More info:

Indianapolis — Marion County deputies are looking for 16-year-old Quinisha Dowdell, missing since June 16.

Relatives say the family was at a swimming pool when an unknown man with braids, driving an older red two door car showed up to talk to Quinisha. Moments later she left with the man and the family reported her missing. The girl's sister Lagarya Babbs was shocked, "The boy was standing with the dog. I guess he was waiting on her or something and then she ran through the front door and snuck around the building."

Later that day Quinisha called her mother from a pay phone. Linda Dowdell recalls her daughter sounded very strangely, "She said mommy.....and I said Quinisha. I said baby where are you? She said I need somebody to get me." That's the last time anyone has heard from the girl.

Relatives suspect Quinisha left with a man that she met over the internet. Sheriff's investigators don't know if she's in danger or if she's staying away on her own free will. Anyone with information about Quinisha is urged to call CimeStoppers at 262-TIPS.

She has been missing for almost two weeks. :(

That's terrible. I hope she is found and found safely.

Is there some sort of identification photo to go of off?

I'm sorry PG, and I wish I could do more than say I'm sorry to hear this.

06-27-2006, 07:48 PM
It's okay you guys.

I'd put a picture up but I haven't gotten permission from her mother. :(

She wasn't home for her birthday. It was 2 days ago  Not so super sweet 16.

Should this be moved to the main forum in the sticky section? We already have one there.

I'm so sorry. I hope she's safe and unhurt.

I also hope that she's safe. I can't help but wonder how she sleeps at night. How she feels. Not being home for 2 weeks, not being with family and friends on your Sweet Sixteen, and just being with a stranger.

This sounds awfull! Very sorry to hear this. Makes you wonder what's wrong with some people to target such young girls.

Hope they find her and she'll be ok.

I couldn't find any articles about her being found, but this was posted yesterday.

Police are looking for a man they believe can shed light on the disappearance of a Lawrence North High School student last seen June 16.

Marion County Sheriff's Department detectives would like to talk to Joseph Tharp as a "person of interest" in the disappearance of Quanisha Dowdell, 16, said Capt. Brian Mahone, a sheriff's department spokesperson..
The girl was last seen at a swimming pool at the family's Eastside apartment complex before leaving with a man. She called her family the same day asking to be picked up, but couldn't say where she was.
Quanisha told her mother she was somewhere in Marion, but police were able to determine if hers was a local call.
Investigators are unsure whether Dowdell is being held against her will or simply ran away

Maybe they found that guy and found her? Let's hope

I just called, no one answered so I sent an e-mail.

This was the last article I read. Her mother hasn't contacted me either. This is from July 7th.

Police Seek 'Person Of Interest' In Teen's Disappearance

INDIANAPOLIS -- Investigators want to question a "person of interest" in the case of a missing Indianapolis teenager, the Marion County Sheriff's Department said Friday.

The department said it wants to talk to Joseph Tharp in connection with the June disappearance of Quanisha Dowdell, 16. It declined to say why it wants to question him about the case.

Dowdell disappeared June 16. Witnesses told police that on that day, she was at the Woods Edge Apartments' swimming pool near 82nd Street and Center Run Drive when she got into a car with a man whom she might have met in an Internet chat room.

Witnesses said the man was black and had long braids. The car was an older two-door vehicle with tinted windows, and a pit bull was inside, witnesses said.

Family members said Dowdell called home later that night and sounded drugged and disoriented. Authorities said they traced the call to an Indianapolis pay phone.

Dowdell is black and 5 feet 2 inches tall. She weighs 120 pounds and, when she was last seen, had dark hair with highlights, police said.

Good news, PG!!!

07-11-2006, 11:18 AM
Really great news. It seems these often end with the "worst case scenario". I'm glad it didn't.

07-11-2006, 11:25 AM
so...wtf happened to her??

did she go & stay willingly, or was she kidnapped? if the latter...did the find / arrest the guy??

07-11-2006, 11:33 AM
Thanks all. I feel soo much better now that I know she's home safe.

I don't know too much except they found her so it's not like she came home. They're not sure if she ran away with him because when she was first missing, witnesses said that it appeared that she was "forced" to go.

Right now, I don't know what happened to the guy. Her brother called me and told me she was back and that was all.

07-11-2006, 09:57 PM
Yeah, it made mine too.

But, I read an article today. It says that she left WITH the guy. Willingly. She and I are going to have a talk. Right after she and her mom have one.

First: Great to hear she's ok now.

Secondly: you maybe might want to waite before having a stern talk with her immediately. I think she'll have enough of those talks ahead of her with about everybody for the coming days.

You Know It! I have to set her straight. She worried sooo many people! She could have gotten hurt!

Her mom, aunts, and grandmas are definetly going to be the first one to give her those talks.

07-11-2006, 10:29 PM
It's good to hear that she is back and is safe.

Hopefully, she will learn from this mistake.

:buttkick: Foot in the *** PG

07-11-2006, 11:34 PM
Glad to hear she's okay, but her parents need to drop the hammer on her. I can't imagine how sick they've been for these past couple of weeks. And if the police can press charges (I don't know what they would be), they should. Complete foolishness with no regard for anyone else's feelings. She needs to learn a hard lesson from it.
