NBA RATINGS ON THE RISE

NBA playoff ratings are rebounding from 2005:

ABC, with ratings up 16%, drew the weekend's top overnight — 6.4 — for Monday's Miami Heat-Detroit Pistons. That's up 7% from the Phoenix Suns-San Antonio Spurs in the 2005 time slot.

TNT, with ratings up 7%, got 4.1 for Friday's Dallas Mavericks-Phoenix, up 8% from Detroit-Miami in 2005. It received 4.0 for Sunday's Mavs-Suns, up 18% from a Pistons-Heat game.

ESPN, with ratings up 22%, got 3.8 for Saturday's Miami-Detroit, up 9% from a Suns-Spurs game last year.

Looks like the causal fans are coming back. The people who were only interested in stars (Jordan, Barkley, ect..) New guys like Wade, Lebron, Nash and Dirk are new to playing at this playoff level. Oh then you have Lexington Ky, who are just a bunch of bandwagoners....once Detroit is out you'll see a drop off of about 200,000 people.

You mean that many people actually watch the WWE? Yikes.

I think this is a good time for sports in general-no other TV shows to compete with.

The worst was last Monday with the 24 season finale and the game 7s. Yikes!

It may sound stupid, but I would rather very casual fans didn't watch at all. Sure, that may not be good for ratings, but at least then you don't have some a:censored:le coming in thinking that the Cavs or the Heat are God's gift to basketball, and the only people they know are LeBron and D-Wade.
