I agree there has to be some better ones out there.

Well it is between the last two on the list. And it is a tossup betwen those two. I suspect the Reggie thread will win this award though.

Here were my nominees:

Thread of the Year -

A big giant Red Flag just went up for me (started by Peck)
http://www.pacersdigest.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=16568

So how many more chances will Artest get (started by UncleBuck)
http://www.pacersdigest.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=13285

Open Letter to the Pacers: Don't stop at Artest (started by UncleBuck)
http://www.pacersdigest.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=16663

The Official: "Eddie Gill should start!" bandwagon (started by Shade)
http://www.pacersdigest.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=20484

The offical Reggie Miller thread (started by Peck)
http://www.pacersdigest.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=20185

Although... since I was instructed to stop reading the Reggie Miller thread ( ), I can't really comment on that.

I'll vote for the Eddie Gill bandwagon by default. We should do a better job of nominating for this category. I'd like to think of this thread/ award as a centerpiece where we could send new people to see the quality of PD. This list just doesn't seem to capture it, IMO.

I went with that - however good they were I completely ignored the two non-basketball threads.

Does seem like there should be some better ones though.

The nominees were pretty terrible so I went with one that won't win. I can't really criticize though, since I didn't take the time to nominate any.

What happened to the infamous Earl thread? :kickcan:

Oh well, I gotta give my boy Eddie some .

All these threads sucked except the Reggie Miller thread. But I voted for the last one cause it had my name in it. YESIR

For all of you who are disappointed in what was nominated did you even submit any entries?

As for my vote it was very close between "Eddie should start" and the "May not want to read this" threads. I went with Eddie since his bandwagon is just so gosh darn cute!

The Earl thread was nominated, but sadly didn't make top 5. :(

I nominated one of the season ending threads by Bball.

I guess it fell a little short of making the top 5 too.

First three on that list are ridiculous. I've tried to participate in silly threads and always lose interest. I just don't come here for that kind of thing. The basketball threads are what PD is known for.

I guess I'm no fun. :whoknows: ;)

Reggie Miller thread got my vote.

Agree that the first 3 are terrible nominees

I think you choose between a tribute thread and a real discussion thread that had some bickering, good debate, foolish points, etc. And those were just my contributions.

Last one is really what PD is all about.

My noms:
"Awards a farce" http://www.pacersdigest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12377 (the Earl thread)
"PD Halloween Costume Party 2" http://www.pacersdigest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6727
"The Official Reggie Miller thread" http://www.pacersdigest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20185

Earl's post and VT's eulogy both made best post noms, but the whole damn thread is just priceless. It may just be the best thread ever. Shame on those of you who didn't nominate. :tsk:

Guess I'll go with Reg instead.

Shouldn't the "official Saras thread" be included here? anyway, imho many people here would rather credit this thread as "love to hate thread of the year"...

I think the problem is that, over the course of a year, a lot of good threads tend to be forgotten. Plus, they can be a pain to find. Those are the reasons I didn't nominate any, anyway.

Too bad we don't use the rating system more often, that would be a good way to find memorable threads. Something another forum I used to frequent did was kept a forum where excellent threads were placed after they ran their duration, as a sort of archival thing - maybe that's a possibility.

When I searched for nominees, I searched for threads with the most replies or views and picked the ones I liked. But it wasn't worth it to sort through all of Peck's great Odd Thoughts threads.

I just wonder if we should've tried to limit this category to one non-basketball thread.

I nominated the "It's Official: Artest for Peja" thread. Guess it didn't make the list, but IMO, it was the best of the whole year; not because of good discussion, not because of humor, none of that - simply the fact that Artest was finally gone and that headache was relieved.

I think I'll go with Reggie on this one, though.

I wasn't very impressed with most of the nominees.

You weren't!

I only read the last thread. The first two I didn't read because they didn't appear to be basketball threads. Wanting Eddie Gill to start appeared silly to me, so I didn't read it. The Reggie Miller thread didn't interest me because he's retired. Hence I only read Pecks thread.

Under the circumstances I chose not to vote. Now if it would have been a close vote I would have forced myself to read them.

Will,

I haven't read the first two threads myself.

But I think the Eddie Gill page will make you say "giggle, giggle snort."

Okay . . . I read it.

That was like going into a bar where everyone is drunk and having a good time, and you're sober. Not even a snort from me.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'

How can this not make you at least giggle let alone snort.

I'm pretty sure there was another version of the wagon after this one, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be in that thread.

Great song!

I wasn't around to vote, but it looks like the good guys won anyway. The Reggie Miller thread was just brilliant.

And, I suggested it back in the nominations thread... those of you who didn't suggest threads should next year.... :tsk:
