Castleton Pizza King

For those new to the forum............

We have a little meet & greet a couple times a year. Our first one is early in the season & our second gathering is shortly following the college draft.

Currently we have found a home at the Briggby's Pizza King in Castleton.

Our conversations usually focus on the Pacers but we do touch upon the NBA in general. Being members of the Pacers Digest, talk does turn to the forum from time to time as well.

We discuss the same issues as we do here on the forum but the instant give & take make for a lively & fast paced evening. We will get started around 6 o'clock & stay until closing, sometime around 9 to 9:30. That is only a little more than 3 hours. Most of our parties have carried on til late, very late into the night. Following the closing of Pizza King we will re-form the party at Perkins, on the southeast corner of 82nd & Allisonville Road.

There is no "offical" guest list but I do kinda need to keep tabs on how many might be there. I need to let our host know just how big a group we could be. If you plan on attending, simply post your name in the thread. If something happens last minute & you can't make it, we understand. If you would rather keep your plans a secret & show up unannouced, that's fine by us too.

Following is a list of what I would call, for a lack of a better term, "guidelines".

1. Everyone is invited. Doesn't matter if you post 30 times a day or if you only come here to read what others write. As long as you know about the forum, & the party, you're welcome.

2. Timing means nothing. What I mean by this is...........

You can come when you want, you can leave when you want. It's all up to you. You just want to stop by for 5 minutes, no problem (sorry Scott).

We'll be there from around 6, til 9 then we'll move things to Perkins.

3. The Big Payback. We chip in for the grub. The pizza, soft drinks & tip for our fine waitresses runs about 10 bucks each.

The Pizza King does serve other items if pizza is not your thing or if you care for something a little stronger than Pepsi. I'll leave that ordering, & paying, up to you.

Thats it, I hope.

If you have any questions, fire away.

Thanks

Well, we will be making monthly trips to This Old House, so maybe we could arrange one for that weekend. Hmm.

Doug in CO

seems like a weekend that those of us with families will already have plans and be unable to make - perhaps the date could be reconsidered to be in the middle of July as free agency will be in full swing.

The $170 I would save on airfare would tell me that switching it to the 8th is a good idea.

How many want to switch to the 8th?

Zero chance I make it on the 1st... chances are better than 50/50 I could make the 8th... but I just wonder if it should not be the 15th when free agency is in full swing.

Jose Slaughter
05-09-2006, 03:34 PM
What ever date we go with will be the one that can get the greatest number of people together. As long as its after the draft I don't really think it matters much.

I'm open for any Saturday so I'll leave it to you guys to decide.

My preference order is:
1) 8th

3) 1st wouldn't be do-able with airfare prices that weekend

IF its the 1st then I can do Perkins and pray to God my wife doesn't
throw me at of the house at 4 a.m.

By fatalities you mean us signing Al, thereby bringing Tim's hopes upto the highest level, then dashing them by trading him to someone else? That might be interesting.

Oh, so now that you have the honeymoon out of the way, it's back to being a swinger, eh? Must be nice to have it both ways. ;)

I'd like to thank everyone for keeping us updated on your availabilty for Saturday.

For those that are planning on being there.... Pizza King opens their doors at 5:30. There isn't an "offical" start or ending time for these things, so for those that can't make it at 6:00 on the nose, drop by when you get a chance.

The first wave of pizza should hit the tables around 6:30. A Royal Feast, Meat Lovers & a Veggie will get us started.

We should be there til around 9:30 & then most of us will head to Perkins to continue the party into the wee hours of Sunday morning.

One final thing. I really want to thank everyone for making these so much fun.

Looks like we will be adding some new names to our party alumni list this weekend. For those that have attended in the past but have other commitments this weekend, thanks for making these parties a success.

Thanks for helping with the directions Hicks. I should have posted this info long before now.

Pizza King is in the middle of a parking lot just a few blocks east of Castleton Square Mall. They share a building with a Liquor store but they have separate entrances.

You can get to Pizza King from Center Run Road or 82nd street. They are located just north of the Red Lobster, just west of Hooters and just south of the now infamous Burlington Coat Factory.

For more info, you can call them at 577-4040.

I really wanted us to get Brendan when he came out of UNC, and I have liked what I have seen of him, but I admit I only watch the Wizards when they are playing the Pacers, or at least for the most part that is true.

Most of my Wizards friends tell me he is ok, but very soft.

Glad to hear you had a good time, looking forward to hearing some of the recaps

Well, considering we just had a party 3 months ago, there wasn't much to talk about. We couldn't believe we called it quits at only 2:30am.

Best part of the night: Tim's reaction to someone (I believe it was Uncle Buck) throwing out trading JO for Chris Paul. You'd think he'd been shot from the scream he made.

Also of note, when we broke up, Peck was heading down to post the following on the door of Conseco Fieldhouse, Martin Luthor-style:

JO to Philly
Webber to Phoenix
Marion to Indy

More informative recaps will surely come once people get some sleep.

:goodnight

[edit] Before I go, I must say, while Jay was not there in person, he most definitely was there in spirit. It's like he'd given some people scripts to read for him.

[edit] Also, MagicRat, it was agreed you are to be tasked with the following: a picture of Sarunas sitting on Harrison's shoulders; or, at least, a picture of The Hulk holding a piece of cabbage high above his head.

The next one will be early next season. Most likely in November. On a Saturday when the Pacers don't have a game. A lot depends on the schedule.

As for location....... I'll leave that up to the masses.

I suggested Sarunas would win DPOY next year if he averaged 8 blocks per game, and then we came up with Sarunas on Hulk's back/shoulders to swat the ball, then I suggested Harrison could grab Runi by the ankles and swing HIM after the ball to deflect it.
