This is obviously only something you do if you're dead set on not blowing up the team, and if you also consider Francis to be much improved during his time under Larry Brown, and you think Rick can continue that progress. Post trade, we really lack a good 3 point shooter, and that's why I think Minnesota would have to give up a 1st to get it done.

I like the trade, only because it transforms the team in one swoop into just the kind of team Carlisle likes: hard-working, defensive-minded, slog it out basketball. Opens up Granger as the 3rd option on offense, and if you can get Francis to tune-in, you could play some serious lock-down defense with:

Francis
Hassell
Granger
O'Neal
Foster

Anything that nets the Pacers Steve Francis is A VERY BAD IDEA

Did you just put Defense, Francis, and Tune in in the same sentence???

I want Rimfire in here to verify that Francis has, in fact, been a good teammate since joining the Knicks.

Which is for exactly ... how long again?

I'm not that against Steve Francis, if his contract were more reasonable. I'd love to see more athleticism at point and think he and AJ would be a good combo, they could even play at the same time some. But, man that 15 million dollar a year contract is hard to get around.
