This is always a hard one. I think I'll have to go with Able and His Magical Cross-Atlantic Journey on this one.

You're fanatical, Hicks?

Able and it's not even close IMO even though everyone listed above are absolutely hardcore fans. Making this list as a fan IS an honour in my humble opinion and all of them earned it.

I never know if this means someone's posting style or whether this is supposed to be the most fanatical Pacers fan.

Yeah, this is a little blurry to me aswell. I just took it as the most fanatical fan and posting member mixed together. Don't know if that exactly was the idea, but when I read the term most "most fanatical" with regards to a sports team then, for me personally, the fan aspect can not be overlooked or actually is vital. But, that;s just me :).

Me and Jermainiac ride 2gether. <3.I dont make lewd references about anyone's chick. I just have it in my location that I from time to time like to go over to their house. What you assume I do with your chick is not my problem.

The way I view this award is not just by emotional investment, but by sacrafice. I personally believe able easily makes the largest sacrafice to be as fanatical as he is. For me, this was the easiest selection so far for me to make. Able's financial investment hosting this site, his "by the seat of his pants" trans-atlantic journey, and constant time spent on this site makes him a natural because if he didn't care for the Pacers this much....he wouldn't go the extent that he would to support the fans of the team, as well as supporting the team like he does.

I never know if this means someone's posting style or whether this is supposed to be the most fanatical Pacers fan.

I take it to mean; 1. (adj.) Of, relating to, or espousing extreme devotion, as to a cause:

Jermaniac is leading right now but I'm not voting for someone on my ignore list. Anyway I don't think he is devoted to anyone but himself, because he refuses to change his posting style. Some of you must think his posting about JO is devotion, but it's not devotion when you post nonsense about Jermaine and he often does.

Hicks could be said to be fanatical, after all he started this forum, but my vote goes to Able. He came over from Europe to see the Pacers, plus he's giving away bandwidth to host this forum.

Pacer-Gurl is a good pick too! She has made over 10,000 posts since last July. That's good for 5th place on the list.

I don't understand what we mean by "fanatical".

I take that to mean someone who is just a flat-out diehard fan, and I think able best presented that to everyone this year by making a FREAKING TRIP FROM THE UK TO INDIANA to watch a game. That's dedication right there.

I don't really understand some of the other nominations though. Does it mean you're fanatical if you post a lot and get very defensive about certain things?

I feel the same about this, rcarey. It's hard to exactly pin point what is meant by this award, but I took the same meaning as you did and added the characteristic that the award-winner should atleast very regularly post and make his/her opinion noticed. That's why I came up with Able and I still stand by it though, personally I think you should have been listed here aswell.

Good points. Plus able runs this site for us all out of his own pocket. And for a guy living in the UK, that is fanaticism at it's best. Just my opinion though...but I'm lobbying for him! :D

I was narrowing it down to Pacers Gurl and Uncle Buck. Pacers Gurl is a game thread regular and made the 'play by play' a staple of the game threads. She probably also has increased her typing skills as well with the speed she gets some of those things typed and posted!

Meanwhile, UB nearly died this season and was luckily saved by a snowbank to cushion his plummet. He follows the team like few others. He typically defends it even in the darkest hours... and can usually score a point or two in any discussion.

I'd call them options 1A and 1B.

I decided UB's overall contribution was worthy of my vote... Then I saw it wouldn't make a difference...

So I put my support behind Pacers Gurl.

I consider Jermaniac mostly a one note wonder in this category. It's all about Jermaine. If the category was most fanatical JO fan then Jermaniac would get my vote.

My nominations consisted of the "In My Pants" trio.

As for the applicable meaning of "fanatical", I'd say posting before, after, and during school is pretty darn close.

Hey - I was the only one flying my Pacers car flag in Canada, at least as far as I could tell...so do I get credit too?

It's quite a sight to be seen. During this time of year, you have cars zipping around with Toronto Maple Leafs flags (well...usually...not this year), Ottawa Senators flags, Calgary Flames flags, Edmonton Oilers flags, Montreal Canadians flags, etc. - and there goes me with my Pacers flag. I love watching the double-takes people make. My license plate frame also stays on year-round...go off-season!

In 1985, before a lot of you were even a gleam in your daddy's eye, I bought Pacer shirts for, myself, my wife, and my three sons, and we wore them to Disney World. However, I didn't think I deserved a pat on the back for flying the colors.

Must be you young rug rats don't know that Pacer fans are supposed to fly the colors! This was the Summer after they had just gone 22-60.
