View Full Version : Okay, now I'm being silly

We were discussing free agents in another thread and Harpring was mentioned. The more I think about it, the more I think he would make a really good Pacer...but I think he'd ask too much money as a free agent. Thr question is if we could convince him that we are a contender. The guy is extremely smart on and off the court and could be a lockeroom leader.

So, just being silly, based upon our discussion in the free agents thread, what would you think of this scenario?

Providing Peja doesn't break the bank, we're able to lure Harpring on board.

Would you do the following trade as a "major move" that Bird was talking about:

Tinsley and Jackson

for

Andre Miller and Nene Hilario (sign and trade)

(Denver could use an impact swingman and have been looking for years. I could see Karl liking Jamaal. The injurie issues may kinda cancel themselves out.)

Now, I admit I'm being silly. I don't neccesarily see Denver giving up Miller, but then again, maybe they'd balance that aginst getting a solid SG, something they've been looking for and bank on Tinsley having the summer to get all healed up.

Okay, there's my goofy, but plausible trade scenario to make this team bettr. Whatdoyathink?

I like it, but is there anyway we could package Fred, Jeff, and Saras for a starting 2 guard.

Because IMO, Fred and Matt aren't going to cut it.

I could see some combination of those guys resulting in us getting Trenton Hassell or, maybe, Morris Peterson (might have to throw in a pick or something).

I would like Pacers to send Saras to Toronto or Charlotte to know how much fools pay for overconfidnce.

Starting 2 guard? Hmmm... What about JRich? What to offer instead? ANYTHING !!!

Harpring? Sorry, no thanks. Definitely NOT as our starting SG either. Seems to me he's more of a SF anyway and we are stacked at that position IF we keep Peja.

Stacked meaning u have plenty of 3's. However none of them are THAT good...excluding Peja of course.

The next big thing averages roughly 5 points a game?!

That's kind of a silly statement to make. :tsk: Gilbert Arenas, you know the scoring powerhouse, averaged 10 points a game his rookie season.

Your boy Atwan Jamison averaged 9 ppg his rookie year. :-o

Granger averaged 7.5 ppg for the same, NOT 5. :liar:All things considered, that's not bad for a guy off the bench playing behind two other SFs.

Matter of fact, it looks like several national outlets agree about Danny.

Like here. (http://www.hoopshype.com/rookie_watch.htm)

And here. (http://www.nba.com/rookie_rankings/)

Danny is looking to be in the upper echelon of rookie players and has pretty much only gotten good press. Indications are he's going to be an impact player. It seems that not only do you like to distort the facts, but you haven't seen Danny play. :tsk::therock:

(Hell, Shawn Marion, who has grown into a beast, averaged 10 ppg game his rookie season and he got way more PT than Danny.)

Not too mention that part of his strongest player characteristics - his defense - are not translated into statistics.

Blah Blah - he wont be a superstar. Pacer rookies are always overrated. In Indiana that is...

not if you ask Reggie Miller, Rik Smits and the list can go on

No, that would be 7.5 points... but he did average 5 rebounds. Find how many sf's in the league that average 30+ minutes per game and start that grab 5 boards per game. Then take into consideration that Danny only played 22mpg off the bench. Look at how many shots he blocks (as a 3 man) off the bench. The entire league and every NBA Analyst knows this guy is going to be something special. I guess you're late getting the news. Danny is also a huge intangibles guy and comes up with big plays when we need it most.
