For those like me that go to bed late and rise early, you might be bored enough to care...

First Miami retires Michael Jordan and Dan Marino's jersey. Now they've found a reason to wear throwbacks from the 70's even though they've only been around since 88(?).

But the twist is, they're not even the original throwback.

Check this out:

December 3, 2005 the Miami Heat started wearing the supposed road throwbacks of the 1971-72 Floridians of the ABA.

The problem is, that is NOT the road jersey of the 1971-72 Floridians.
This is:

Notice, Miami isn't written anywhere on the jersey.

Not to mention the colors are slightly off

Why retire a football players jersey if you're an NBA team?

Why retire the jersey of a player that never even thought about playing with your franchise?

Why wear a modified throwback? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of a throwback?

That would be like the Pacers hoisting a UK banner.

Miami = Heat + Dolphins + Hurricanes (in inceasing order of support).

Generally Hurricane fans LOATHE the Gatars and the Seminoles. There are some UF and FSU fans who moved to Miami, obviously, but the rivalry is similar in principle to IU-Purdue and IU-UK.

But the Heat do some strange things re. Marino jersey.

btw I think the Heat's non-throwback throwbacks are pretty cool.

OT of OT -

I think that the new Miami "throwback" jerseys are easily the best designed NBA jerseys I've seen in a very long time. I'm serious. Those jersey are fantastic.

I agree...was there any reason to call them throwbacks? They're an awesome alternate jersey.

I also like those "Miami Throwbacks". They kind of remind me of our old Flo-Jo's of the early 90's!

They remind me more of the current Lacoste sportswear clothing line:

www.lacoste.com

Lacost is probably most famous for thier line of "alligator logo" tennis/golf shirts:

The new line of sportswear is hip, clean, classic, young, simple, modern and tasteful. Not to mention just completely bad-***. Lacoste is most definitely back.

I liked our Flojos, but I think these Miami threads are just ugly.

I like the Miami throwbacks, but that's because black and red are my favorite colors.

Yeah, those guys are hideous...

Oh wait nvm. I thought this thread was referring to Gary Payton, Derek ANderson and Shandon Anderson...

The Heat are doomed. Since costing the Jazz multiple times by showboating against the Bulls in '98, it has been decreed that no team with Shandon Anderson on it would ever win a championship.

Btw, after I saw that image of Dale in your sig, I threw up in my mouth a little.

Btw, after I saw that image of Dale in your sig, I threw up in my mouth a little.

When Dale got his first start for us, I noticed how adept he was at setting screens for Rip Hamilton. I really don't know why I was surprised, because out of everybody, Dale has set more screens than any big man left in the NBA.

There was one play where chauncey had the ball at the top of the key, Dale set a baseline screen for Rip, who flashed to the corner. At the last second, Dale slipped the screen and Billups hit him with a bullet-pass for an easy dunk.

After thinking about it, I realized why this play looked so familiar: I'd already seen Mark Jackson and Reggie Miller run this play with Dale for the better part of a a decade.

Yup, Rip could have career games playing off of Dale.

Y'know, it's too bad I can't stand most of your fanbase and the Wallaces. If not for them, I would probably actually root for the Pistons. I like Rip and have forgiven Dale (though him leaving still really stings, in hindsight, I can't blame him).
