I love Pacers/Celts games, we better win this thing.

BostonConnection
03-19-2006, 02:31 PM
The Celts have been slumping lately, and have been collapsing in the 4th quarter of games. Pacers need to jump all over this team and put them away.

Jermaniac

Need to win this one, not a good team plus we are at home. That usually means a loss for our team but maybe we can change today.

Both Gomes and Granger are excellent examples of how college players who play all 4 years can still be successful in the NBA today.

Definitely true. They've both translated very well to the NBA level of play, after several months of learning, however. Certainly better than having Gerald Green sit on the bench for the majority of his season.

that delayed fast break was perfect. just great ball movement all around.

the thing that worries me though is I know we're not going to shoot this well the entire game... so we have to make sure we play good consistent defense in order to keep this lead.

also... we gotta keep sharing the ball and keep going to the hole. don't settle for jumpers just because we're hot now.

Absolutely, the Celts are on the last game of a 4 game road trip, if the Pacers keep the pressure on them the Celts will be emotionally ready to board the team bus by the 3rd quarter.

He had some recurring symptoms. They are going to hold him out until they are 100% sure he's okay.

I can certainly see why some are happy Jamaal has returned and Sarunas has been relegated to DNP-CD's...

maybe RC really should give Sarunas back some playing time, things cant get any worse than this. was +14 or something, but in the end... in doesnt even mather...

Gimme a break, this is his first bad game

...I won't bother to argue that point IF you are saying "...since his return". Unfortunately, the 'oneupmanship' is typical of Tinsley and has certainly popped up plenty of times in the past.

Old habits die hard I guess....

why?

If you are talking to me... It was sarcasm wrapped in frustration.

Why, cause I am right?

Yeah, I mentioned his "oneupmanship" in my post game thread, it got old fast.

But the simple point is, that was his first "S-Jax" esque game since he came back from his injury.

It certainly did get old. And has gotten old in the past. Tinsley is simply another example of a player whose legend grew while he sat on the bench. The 'oneupmanship' display is nothing new or unexpected. Nobody should be surprised nor should they shrug it off. It's probably -the- major flaw in Tinsley's game. And it is a glaring one that crops up often. Not just one or two games a year. I'm not questioning Tinsley's ability... I'm questioning his ability to play within the framework of the game.

Aren't we agreeing here? Or do you disagree with that assertion?

We agree on everything ecept his biggest flaw. The biggest flaw to me is he forces jumpers, even though he is not a jumpshooter. That and he takes the offense of the sync when he does that.

1B would be the oneupsmanship, at least to me

I'm just kind of including that stuff in the package...

So let me buy you a beer... :buddies:

Boston 103, Indiana 88

By STEVE HERMAN, AP Sports Writer
March 19, 2006

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Paul Pierce scored 22 points and the Boston Celtics overcame a 14-point, first-quarter deficit to beat the Indiana Pacers 103-88 on Sunday and sweep the three-game season series.

Indiana shot 67 percent in the opening period, but shot 28 percent over the final three periods as the Celtics came back and eventually took control.

Boston trailed by 12 after one quarter, but Pierce and rookie Ryan Gomes had seven points each in the second period and the Celtics tied it at 53 at the half.

A free throw by Indiana's Stephen Jackson tied the game for the last time at 72 early in the third quarter, but Tony Allen had seven points, including two free throws after a flagrant foul on Jamaal Tinsley, as Boston built its lead to 81-72 in the next 3 minutes. The final score matched the Celtics' biggest lead of the game.

Wally Szczerbiak and Delonte West added 16 points each and Allen finished with 14 for the Celtics.

Peja Stojakovic led Indiana with 16 points, and rookie Danny Granger added 14.

The Pacers hit 11 of their first 12 shots and took a 24-13 lead in the first 6 minutes. A basket by Szczerbiak and three by West cut the lead to five, but Indiana continued its hot early shooting and took its biggest lead at 36-22 on a 3-pointer by Tinsley.

The Pacers still led by 12 after a 3-pointer by Stojakovic early in the second period before their shooting cooled for good.

A basket by Pierce, two free throws by Gomes and a 3-pointer by Pierce brought Boston to 53-51. Then, after a miss by Indiana's Anthony Johnson, Gomes was fouled on a fast break and hit two more free throws with 0.3 seconds left to tie it at the break.

Another basket by Pierce at the start of the third quarter gave Boston its first lead of the game. Minutes later, a dunk by Pierce pushed the Celtics' lead to 61-55, completing a 17-2 run spanning the second and third periods.

Notes

Boston coach Doc Rivers missed the game because of the death of his father-in-law. ... Pacers forward Austin Croshere did not play, the 20th game he's missed in the past 21 games, and will be out indefinitely because of a concussion he suffered Jan. 31. ... Indiana's 36 points in the first quarter were two off its season high against Seattle in January. ... Boston has won four straight against Indiana over two seasons. ... The Celtics finished 1-3 on a four-game road trip.
