Am I nutz  or ? Does AJ stand a chance for Most Improved Player award if finishes out the season this way ...?

Nah, that award usually goes to younger "up-and-coming" players. Boris Diaw and David West are probably the frontrunners.

If AJ keeps playing at his present level throughout the remainder of the season and playoffs, I would think he would almost be a shoe-in for the award.

No, AJ stands no chance against Boris Diaw.

On the season, his stats are down in almost every category compared to last year. Worse FG%, worse 3PT%, worse FT%, less steals, more TOs, less boards, less assists, less points. His blocks have increased though. He's had a few very good weeks recently, but he's got a long way to go to get into MIP consideration, considering that the voters will focus heavily on overall stats.

It's a 2 man race between Boris Diaw and David West.

I think Diaw wins this in a landslide. You could see that David West had potential, even if his numbers weren't great. Also, part of that was being behind Magloire and P.J. Brown, he didn't get much PT. Diaw looked like an absolute bum in Atlanta, and now, he's an integral part of a winning team
