I think Vlade is old and has no game left. If you are talking about his glory years, he was pretty good. He was a really good passing big man.

A whiner of the worst variety. But that pretty much summed up that entire Kings squad he was on. He was good enough back in the day though. Skilled passer.

I like Vlade, I met him at a basketball camp and he was great. He is one of the best passing centers of all time, when the Pacers were not playing the Kings I loved to watch him.

Great passer. Nice skills all around for a 7 footer. Pretty underratted player overall, IMO. Good bball IQ too. He could do alot of the little things to make his whole entire team so much better.

Absolute whiny little priss. Couldn't stand his flopping. Still remember his cheap shot on Reggie while he played for Charlotte.

Why are we discussing someone who will never play again?

I liked his personality. Great passer, smart player, flopper, decent shooter, great lockerroom guy.

".....Vlade has committed an astonishing zero fouls in
his history as a King, since every single foul charged to him was,
judging by his mastery of the “I never touched him!” facial expression,
a grievous officiating mistake...."

Joins Hakeem Olajuwon and Kareem Abdul-Jabaar as the only players in NBA history to amass 13,000 points, 9,000 rebounds, 3,000 assists and 1,500 blocked shots

decent player ?

vlade was great ... he did not care about stats, and he still recorded those numbers he made the whole team better and his personality is one of the best

I gotta echo these sentiments. I loved everything about the guy. From his basketball play to the fact that he probably smoked a pack a day and still was the only person who could guard Shaq in those LA dynasty years.

Greatest center to ever play the game. A real class act. I always wanted the Pacers to get him. I think the classiness of Reggie and him would have brought Indy atleast 3 rings.

Sorry to be mr Argumentative but are you putting Vlade above people like Shaq, Russell and Kareem?

I said the greatest center to play the game so yeah. Watch out you might win "Most Argumentative Poster" this year. I'm going for "Classiest Class Act"

Ok, if we can disregard the good he did as a person, what did he do as a player to earn the moniker "greatest center"?

Everything needed to be the G.C.O.A.T., it's f***ing Vlade, man. The Legend.

I'm from Lithuania and we will never forget the euro 1995 finals. Maybe, my commrades will criticise me on this one, but I do think that Vlade had almost as much talent as Sabas, but some 2-4 inch less.

Such threads remind me of speeches in funerals.

Well, here's my part: A very good player. I would say great, but I still feel dissapointment of how his career ended. Dissapointing trauma in LA, decision not to play in his national team. Despite that, he's the 2nd best European center ever to play in the NBA, right after Sabonis; and probably he had the best NBA and international career among centers from Europe.

Vlade always acknowledged Sabonis was better than him.

Really? That puts Divac so much higher in the list of my favorite players.

Vlade always acknowledged Sabonis was better than him.

He should, Sabonis had the reputation of having somewhat of a mean streak (played tuff). While many considered Vlade on the soft side, of course this could have been only a perception because of the constant flopping.

A class act and very good center in his day.

Unfortunately will also always be remembered as the other player in the Kobe Bryant draft day trade, if I'm not mistaken.

Correct!!! I really like Vlade but Kobe!!! Did they make a stupid move or what???

Charlotte didn`t need a SG but they needed a C so they did the trade.

In 1984. Draft, Portland didn`t need SG (they had Clyde Drexler) so they passed MJ and picked Sam Bowie (center).

Those looked like normal decisions when they were made but...

You might want to ask this at a KINGS website, considering Vlade played his best years wearing the uniform of the Sacramento Kings.

Offhand, I'd recommend ... oh, I don't know ... maybe Kingsfans.com.

Not a big fan of centres who play the floppsy game. he was a good passer but I will always remember his acting skills defining his career for me.

I always thought Vlade was slow and a whiner. He was good though, no doubt. He could pass it with accuracy, play the post against bigger players (i.e. shaq), and was a decent scorer. However, I always felt he looked unprofessional, and lacked hygiene. He also whined incessantly whenever he didn't get the call, and played dirty to make up for being oaf-slow.

... you asked! lol :grinyes:
