Denver Nuggets.

It might be temporary and it might be not Nuggets' fault, but right now I feel very negatively in respect of them as they just ruined my evening recently. I was watching their game against some other team (I don't remember which) and Nuggets were behind by some 10 points with more than 4 minutes left. And they gave up. Their coach gave up too. Nuggets' main players were replaced with garbadge-time players and walked out of the court with their heads down.

Only 10 points and over 4 minutes left! It should never happen on a basketball court.

SwissExpress
02-15-2006, 08:10 PM
Maybe it's not Nuggets' fault, maybe NBA has just too many games in regular season? I'm sure it would not happen in college bball and I never saw anything like that in international or Euro games.

Well Swiss, these are the people who were the nastiest players to the Pacers. Ehlo aside, some of these guys didn't play fair with our players in the 90's. Stockton and Malone were two dirty players as was Starks. Ewing, well as an Indiana fan who thinks that the Knick Pacer rivalry is the best rivalry the Pacers have ever had, I have to name the kingpin, P Ewing.

The '99 Knicks staring Dick Bavetta, Bennett Salvatore, and Jess Kersey.

Man, it's tough to top that team. They beat the begeezuz out of us every time we played them.

I'll counter that team with

PG; Ron Harper- I just wanted to hoagie slap that smirk off his face. Any on his team would do something good, and he'd make it a point to run down the court smirking like HE did it.

SG: John Starks- He maintained being a punk almost his entire career...and who can forget that stupid headbutt on Reggie.

SG/SF: Kobe-Do I have to run down the list?

SG/SF: Sprewell...unbelievably self absorbed and a jerk both on and off the court. Ya gotta love a guy who calls a asian cop a "chink" when he gets stopped for dring UP an off ramp.

PF: Kenyon Martin- Lose all the grimacing...whiner!

C: Olowokandi- Wasted talent, resistant to learning, arrogant, yet squanders any talent he may have had. PLus he's dumb as dirt and tries to come off like he knows something.

Top of my head, I'm sure if I really thought about it, I've got better one's I forgot about. (If I hate them so much how could I forget about them you ask. Um....)

I don't like Bogut simply because of what he said about Kobe at the start of the season. He said that Kobe should have carried Shaqs bags blah blah before he even stepped foot in the NBA. It was that day that I knew..somewhere down the road..some time..Kobe is going to deliver another nuts in your mouth dunk right onto Boguts face like he did to Dwight Howard.

That doesn't make sense to me. You don't like Bogut becasue he said Kobe should have been respectful as a rookie to the team's superstar? Every rookie goes through that. Kobe's exempt? I'm a little confused here. Help me out.

He was also asked a zillion questions before he even entered the NBA. But he voiced his opinion on something that he had nothing to do with really. He could have said no comment, but he voiced it anyways. But was he wrong? You could take it as a slight to Kobe but the underlying theme is that NBA players should value championships higher than being 'the man'. Since he has entered the NBA he has shown he is willing to do whatever it takes to help his team win. If Kobe holds a grudge and posterizes him, so what?

I know he talked trash. But he ALWAYS backed it up, and was so fun to watch. Even if you hated the Celtics, Ainge, DJ, and McHale were all more unlikeable.

Though maybe I'm biased since he was from southern Indiana. I have to admit being one of those Pacer fans who watched the Celtics come to town in the 80s and wished for a Pacer win, but also wanted at least a little bit to see some memorable Larry Bird performance.

I have NEVER EVER felt that way about a good opposing player, though I feel a bit similar when guys like Calbert Cheany or Alan Henderson come to town.

Wow, I didn't see who Jay had posted and it appears I pretty much followed his lead with Laimbeer, Bird, and Ainge.

Tom, my picks were more on a personal level than their play on the court. They made my list only after observing (I was not involved) how they treated fans. And believe me, I took in consideration these guys are bothered alot by autograph seekers or could be having a bad day.

Ya know what, Tom. I always hated Bird and I always hated Jordan. (For different reasons which I won't go into)

I couldn't give a crap about memorable performances cause there were too many times it came at the expense of the Pacers. I'm one of thoise weirdos who simply wasn't a fan of either guy...ever.

I got tired of being at MSA and having to be surrounded by people rooting for the Celtics or Bulls.

I gotta share one funny incident that I told years ago Indystar forum. A buddy (also a cop) and I were at a Bulls game rooting for our boys when a couple of young jerks start directing taunts our way.

In our house.

We ignored them at first, but then they started cursing, so we told them to chill on the profanity cause of the kids around us. The told us to F ourselves. They were both decked out in puffy Bulls coats and paraphenalia.

Then they asked us if we wanted to step outside. :-o

We looked at each other, smiled, and said "sure", let's go.

When we got to the top of the stairs and into the hallway, we flagged over a deputy and told him our newfound friends need to go. Then my buddy and I both fliped out our badges, put them in the two guy's faces and I said "F me? looks like you're the ones getting F'ed. Enjoy watching the TV in the parking lot cause you ain't getting back in here."

They got escorted out. Turns out they were from out of town, so it felt expecially good to know we ruined their trip.

(and yeah, I know my comment wasn't the most professional , but I just had to do it.:devil:)

Scott, you just made my day.....

I'm surprised to see Larry Bird listed on some all-time hated player lists (Jay, RWB).

He's on my list too. In fact he might be the first one.

Let's see...
Kobe would be on it
Iverson would be on it
Antoine Walker would get a tryout
Dennis Rodman (circa tatoo and hair dye era)

I'm drawing a blank on a center I actually hate. Shaq seems goofy enough I don't actually dislike him.

I suppose Laimbeer by default can play center on this team.

Isiah can coach and manage the team.

Edit: I just read some other comments... John Starks can also be on my team. He can be 6th man.

This story needs a writer's embellishment! :D

As we started to walk up the stairs we heard a voice yell from the court area "Hey, where are you going with my nephews, you damn Indiana hicks (no offense to Hicks)!?"

That's when we turned to see Phil Jackson leaving the bench and calmly entering the stands behind us as if he owned the arena.

He followed us up the stairs all the way and began to hum as if he was trying to find some inner-peace -or else maybe he was looking for his "inner-warrior". That's when we found a deputy who pulled out his nightstick. We showed them our badges and soon had the whole Bulls team, and the two boys from the stands, arrested. MJ bailed them all out, except for Rodman who was transferred to the psych ward, and they returned to finish the game but the Pacers easily handled them since the IPD had conviently lost all the keys to the handcuffs that they were wearing.

We didn't find the keys until just after the final horn. ;)

I don't like ballhogs and I don't like clowns so that explains my picks 1-3 and number 4.

(Note: Clowns do not equal jokers in this use of the term)

Too lazy to post the reason for Laimbeer. So this is from a post back in July.

If you mean being an @sshole then we agree. Seriously I will give Bill Laimbeer credit for this. He'll even admit he's not the nicest guy and I think he kind of likes that persona.

The problem I see is if a player gives him a ration of crap, challenges his authority, I have NO doubt he is willing to meet that challenge. Laimbeer really is willing to go fistucuffs with Ben Wallace if provoked.

Now you're asking how do I know what's in the man's mind? Do I know Bill Laimbeer personally? No I do not. The only thing I can base this on is an incident I witnessed when he was a player. To many it probably doesn't mean much and people do change (for Artest's sake I hope so).

I know many have already heard this so I do apologize in advance. Back during the Pistons' Daly championship years when they would come to MSA there was always a pretty strong Piston following there. Fans leaving the game actually could get pretty close to the away team's bus. Though being a PAcer fan, sometimes we would stop for a few minutes to watch the other team get on board.

This particular time there was a boisterous crowd of Piston fans waiting near the Piston bus as players were getting on. Chuck Daly, Vinnie Johnson, IThomas all came over and signed autographs with these guys and gals wearing their Piston caps and jackets. Laimbeer comes out and they're hollering Bill, Bill, Bill. He looks right at them, get's this silly ***** eating grin, and flips them off. The crowd look stunned and went dead silent. I myself thought it was funny as hell but you know being a PAcer fan that's too be expected.

The morale to the story is Laimbeer is a prick, plain and simple. As berating of a coach Larry Brown can be I can only imagine what Laimbeer may do if the right buttons are pushed. OR he's changed and could be perfect.

Previous RWB post in a thread about Ainge.

Re: sad remarks from Ainge

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Got an Ainge story for you. My wife had a friend who was a Celtic fan back in the Bird/Ainge era and use to go to games with us when the Ps played them. She was such a Ainge fan it was boderline scary, almost Fatal Attraction like stuff. One of her dreams was to get a picture taken with Danny Boy and she finally got her opportunity.

As per usual we attend a PC game and the wife has on her Pacer gear and her friend has on her Celtic gear. Now the thing I forgot to add is the friend is short, REALLY short, and I hate to say this but the poor gal is not very attractive. So anyway we're in the lower level and Ainge is shooting about a half hour before the game starts. The wife suggests here's your opportunity let's go down and see if you can get a picture taken with him. Sure enough I'm watching from my seat as my wife (wearing the PAcer stuff) and her friend (wearing Celtic green) are talking to Ainge and he's shaking his head yes. Next thing I know Ainge has his arm around my wife (the *******) while her friend takes a picture. Another minute goes by and I see Ainge put his hands up and walks back on the court to shoot some more.

The women get back to our seats and the wife quietly whispers in my ear don't ask, I'll tell ya later. Turns out after the wife had her picture taken with Ainge (which she could care less about, her picture she has with Reggie is a different story) she told her friend to change places with her so she could take their picture. At that point Ainge said "Sorry about that I really need to practice" and left his most devoted Celtic fan just standing there. So there you go good ole Danny was willing to have his picture taken with a nice looking blonde wearing Pacer stuff, but didn't have a second for an unattractive Celtic fan long before the game would start.

Thanksgiving day game against the Raptors. Mark and Charles Oakley were giving Pacer fans hell and being obnoxious. Oh, sorry, I guess that's my least favorite Jackson moment.

Stuart Gray.....This was way before warmups. Good ole Stu was trying his best to flirt with some ladies on the floor. Kid probably 8 or 9 comes up and politely asks "Mr. Gray would you sign an autograph". Our buddy Stu "Sorry I'm busy now" as he returns to the important task of setting up a date or dates for after the ball game.

Sorry, for as bad as Stuart Gray played he should have thanked the kid for even asking him for his signature.

Not really a team but Shaquille O'Neal, Dale Davis, Jermaine O'Neal, Derrik McKey are the players i hate the most. Why JO? Cause he is so overrated, doesn't worth even half of what he gets and his presence in our team means the lack of progress. Period. If you want a hated team take all 5 Suns players. Cause I hate that team to death.

Oh, forgot to list the legend.

#1 Maybe I don't have all the facts, but seems he forgot he had a daughter living in Brazil, Indiana most of the time.

#2 He was a Celtic. Because of that, supposed Celtic fans outnumbered Pacer fans locally 9 to 1.

#3 Maybe Legend was too busy with his buddies at the bar and just didn't want to be bothered, but......(something I witnessed) an older gentlemen (probably in his 70s and not intoxicated) asked LL "Larry you're the greatest player ever would you sign this?).....Now once again maybe the Legend was too busy chugging his beer or was offended because he was asked to sign a napkin, but.....the annointed one's response "get away old man, I don't owe you a f***ing thing.

I'd like to think maybe Larry was just having a bad day or because he was still in his twenties was going through a major obnoxious stage. The man could be a sweetheart now. At the time it just left a lasting impression and not a favorable one.

Sorry, didn't see I'd been called out.

That's the right response.

a) He was a f'ing Celtic, and we don't like the green guys.

b) I hated going to MSA and enduring Larry Bird's fans. What's the #1 reason I loved Chuck Person? He's the one with the gall to stand up to Larry Bird and call out the Pacers fans for support against the evil green guys. There were many other reasons I loved Chuck, but that's the one at the top of the list.

I despised Bird even more than I disliked Jordan. Now, that's saying something. It was all I could do for three years of him coaching to not instinctively "boo" him during introductions.

I'm with ya, RWB.

Here's my story:

I used to volunteer for Special Olympics. To give the kids a thrill we would have celebrities autograph pictures, volunteer themselves or donate something. South Bend hosted the international Special Olympics one year that I worked it. We asked Larry if he'd be in the parade?

Nope.

Volunteer some time?

Nope.

Autgraph some basketballs?

Nope.

Anything?

Not interested.

As it was, Clark Kellong not only gave autographs, but volunteered for the whole weekend. It was pretty fun and great to hang out with him. We hung in his room part of the night, then in my room with my brother and some other folks. Clark, unlike Larry, couldn't do enough to help out.

I have zero love for the hick from French Lick.

There were many other reasons I loved Chuck,

Reason #2...The Rifelman was one the most approachable guys (along with Reggie) on the Pacers.

Funny, for a guy that supposedly had a happy go lucky personality, Wayman Tisdale was usually the prima donna in that group.
