For the newer members of the Pacers Digest......

A couple times a year we have a little get together to meet & greet one another, talk Pacer basketball & share a little pizza.

This coming party looks to be a very special one indeed. The party is scheduled for Friday, March 31st, the day following the retiring of Reggie Miller's #31.

We'll have a few more details about the event as we get a little closer to the date but I wanted to get something out incase you plan on being in town that weekend & would like to attend our little party.

The location is the same as it has been for awhile now, the Briggby's Pizza King in Castleton. Due to it being on a workday for most of us the start time will change slightly, to 6 PM.

Biggby's shares a building (separate entrances) with a liquor store, in the packing lot directly...

north of Red Lobster

south of the infamous Burlington Coat Factory

east of Hooters

This is the basic info that we use for all of our parties......

1.Everyone is welcome. These parties couldn't be more casual. If you visit the forum you're welcome to attend. You don't even need to be a regular poster, as long as you visit the Pacers Digest we'll find a spot for you.

2. $10 will cover it. We get 4 or 5 pizza's & as much soda as you can drink. Add on a little for our fine waitresses & it comes out to about 10 bucks.

There are adult beverages available but I'll leave that bill upto you.

3. Last minute quest are great. The list I have posted below is the group that has said they plan on being there. Its only purpose is to let the Pizza King staff know about how many people we'll have in our group.

Some people on the list might not show..... no problem

Some people might show that are not listed...... again, no problem

All you need to know is that we start around 6 & that we could be there til 9:30. You could stop by at anytime & stay as long as you like.

Some of us even head to Perkins after the Pizza King closes. It's not uncommon for us to be out til after 1 AM.

If you have any questions or comments feel free to ask.

The updated guest list is located in post 131 of this thread.

Kids....chaffauer....no time for Geezer fun.

At this point I intend to be there. After attending my 1st last year, I miss not going to the others. Kinda feel all left out and lonely (snif). The re-caps are great but do not do justice to actually hearing EVERYBODY's opinions. So yeah, I'm tryin' real hard to be there. Just promise me no more family relations surprizes.

I don't think I'm gonna be able to make this one:(

For anyone thats never been to one, go! You'll enjoy it. I went to the last one. It was my first time. I did not feel like an outsider whatsoever, and because of the way its set-up, everyone talks and you feel like you are definite part of the group. Peck does a great job as moderator. Just don't believe him when he introduces himself as Rimfire....:D

Oddly enough, I did work a job with that very schedule for one summer a few years ago.

I'm working 'til 11, so it'd be at least 1am before I made it to Castleton. I honestly would take some time off work, but I'm going to be using most of my vacation time in order to stay at home and watch the NCAAs. I plan on using my remaining vacation time during finals week.

Still, who knows. I may yet surprise everyone, including myself.

Actually the past 4 years I've been taking my vacations from work during my sons "spring break". We don't travel unless you call going to the Indy zoo, traveling. Catch 2 or 3 movies, play a little putt-putt, ride the co-carts, that kinda stuff.

I've been on the lookout for anyone that even hints of being from around Indy, then sending them a PM.

I enjoy meeting & listening to everyone that comes to these but there are a lot of posters on here from around Indianapolis & we all have one thing in common, we all love the Pacers.

Nobody that attends these parties cares if you have been a regular poster on here since day 1 or if this is your first day. It simple doesn't matter.

You could have been there when Roger was signed or jumped on board when we got Jasikevicius, it still doesn't matter.

To be honest, I don't even care if ya like pizza or not.

You must like the Pacers or you wouldn't be here reading this. If thats the case then your voice means just as much as Hicks, Uncle Buck, Peck or anyone else.

Some new posters feel their opinions don't matter as much as some of the senior members of the board. You will think differently after attending just one party.

I hope to see you there.

Reason #3 I have avatars turned off.

After looking at that picture, I think that is my starting keeper league team after their 1st round series. Thus the reason I got swept in round two.

I'm beginning to dislike that Cedar City guy. :-p

VA and I will have our own little forum party at the Wizards/Pacers game March 1st. Maybe BigMac will be there.

Shacking up at the No Tell Motel with just you two, a bottle of Wesson oil, clothlespins and rubber gloves as you watch the game on TV doesn't quite qualify as "our own little forum party" in my book. I don't care if BigMac makes it a threesome or not.

I have a jersey?

I've sent out about 2 dozen or so PM's over the past couple weeks asking some of the known locals if they would like to attend.

About half have said they would like to but for various reasons, can not.

I'm sure Tim is aware of the date & I hope he will be able to attend.

Right now we have about 28 people that are planning on attending Forum Party XI.

The list, as always is a work in progress & can change at any moment. Just because your name is on the list doesn't mean you have to be there. Also, just because your name is not on the list doesn't mean you can't attend.

I sent out a ton of PM's to guys that had talked about attending games here. Thinking that if they were close enough to go to a game they might be close enough to attend our party. So the actual number of people that show could be a lot higher.

I've added directions to Pizza king in the original post so if you need to know how to find us, just re-read the first post in this thread.

I'll need to call in an order & head count estimate on Wednesday, so if you know in the next couple days that you'll be there Friday night, let me know, it'll be a big help.

Thanks everyone

Not sure if this helps or not, but for those of us who have never been to a forum party before and aren't that familiar with Indy, here is an aerial shot of the area I believe the Pizza King to be in....Can someone clue me in as to which building it actually is? Maybe a magical photoshop project with a nifty 'X marks the spot' or an arrow or something??

I work in the geography field, so details matter to me! I'm certain I could get in my car and drive there without any problems, but I always overdo planning and directions!

http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d163/heywoode/assorteds/pizzakingarea_resize.jpg

Jose Slaughter
03-27-2006, 02:09 PM
The inside isn't overly huge by any means. They usually have us in a section on the right, kinda walled off from the "main" dining area.

With a group this size they could switch us over to the other side.

Either way, you won't have any trouble what so ever knowing exactly where to go.

Am I the only person that thinks that 4 pizzas for 30 (possible) people will mean that some people don't get pizza until the second wave? I know Pizza King cuts the pieces in a grid, but if each person has 3-4 pieces, that is 90-120 total, and not sure that 4 larges cover that many...

On the other hand, it would stink to over-order and then have only 15 people show up...
