Have they announced the names of the people in the three point contest yet?

All I found was this, which says Quentin Richardson is back in it. They do not mention anyone else yet.

I think it would be funny to have a spoof 3-point contest. I'd love to see Shaq, Ben Wallace, etc., launching up the deep ball.

that would be good. You can also have players you don't see dunk ever in season be in the dunk contest.

I think that a free throw contest including Shaq, Tractor Traylor, and Oliver Miller would provide more drama. First one to make five gets a pizza and a bucket of wings (known as the "family pack" at La Nova Pizzaria on the west side of Buffalo)!

Add in Mark Madsen too! He shoots worse than Shaq...

The way he's shooting this season, you already have that with Q.

 If Reg were still here he'd be in the dunk contest..it was pretty rare to see him dunk, it was a layup or if he does dunk its one of those gorilla dunks.

Combine the dunk contest with the block shot contest :)

Having a defender at the dunk contest may actually make it better, at least this season.

 Add in Hotplate Williams and Mel Turpin. Don't recall if they shot quite as bad from the stripe, but they should be able to keep up with the group at the buffet. If they can actually shoot, make them have to convert ten to the others' five.

I'm actually interested in seeing how this class does this year.

My early prediction is Chauncey, but I'm picking Raja as the sleeper. He's got a great release, and is a very effective spot up shooter.

I'm disappointed. I wanted Sarunas to be in it. And Peja too, for that matter.

OK, Q won it. Shows how exciting and memorable this has become.

But Saras and Peja can shoot rings around Terry, regardless of their percentages this year.

Ray Allen for the win!

Runi can beat these guys easily. Billups is Mr.Big Shot, I don't want to see him in no 3 point shootout. It just doesn't feel right. Here's who I wanted to see compete...

Q
Peja
Runi
Allen
Rafer
Korver
Redd

Yeah why isn't Korver in it?

well, but Macijauskas would shoot rings around Saras, yet no one even dares to consider him (for the obvious reasons). so there is a list of players who league believes will have the most presentable performance. they may not be the best ones out there, but league knows better, they want to create the best spectacle they possibly can.
and as I said before, 6 people is way too little for such a competition. it's just not competitive enough imho and that's really strange.. i mean, if you have good shooters, then extend the field of competitors. it will become more exciting and less predictable. besides, more fans will get involved.. I mean players don't get hurt during a three-point contest (even in NBA ;))

Its a novelty. Its not supposed to be a tournament.

Yeah why isn't Korver in it?

My thoughts exactly.

Atleast add Korver and Salim Stoudamire.

My thoughts exactly.

Replace Bell and Q with Korver and Salim Stoudamire and this is a real contest.

Replace the defending champ?

Huh?

Korver couldn't beat Q last year.

Korver was invited he just declined this year he said he wanted to rest during the break. I'm guessing Peja was probably invited as well maybe he just decided not to do it this year because of his recent back problems?

I think I herad he wanted to use that time to move his family and get things better situated since he hasn't had the time since the trade...

:hmm: :hmm: :hmm: it's funny how they didn't invite the player with the highest 3-point percentage in the league right now....

I guess Ray "cry baby" Allen told them he wouldn't play if they invited Bruuuuuuce Bowen.. :-p

Apparently Bowen was traded to the Bulls and has changed his last name to "Nocioni"....
