Let's go Pacers!!
Hopefully Danny can draw Sheed out to the perimeter and take away his shot blocking. DH does have a distinct size advantage on Big Ben so maybe if he gets in deep enough he can steal a few points for us. Fred has to go for 30 if we want to win.

Whoa...that's kind of a huge statement. When the Pistons usually play any team in the league they have a good matchup on at least 3 of 5 positions. With us I'm afraid it rises to 5. Not sure what Peja can do against Prince but judging from past history, we're in trouble there too...

Hicks
02-04-2006, 06:30 PM
I know we've been told that Prince owns Peja, but my optimism comes from the fact that usually against Detroit Rick gets our shooters good open looks at the basket, and they usually miss. But this is the first time we have Sarunas Jasikevicius and Peja Stojakovic taking those open shots. So unless they just can't get open, I think if they get the same looks as I saw Stephen Jackson getting last spring, we have a shot offensively. And we need to use Hulk on either Wallace. He's too big down low for either of them.

I'm extremely curious to see what Danny can do on either side of the ball against this group. Could be ugly, could be amazing.

Really I'm more worried about stopping them defensively.

I'm extremely curious overall because although it is the same players, these are not our everyday Pistons. Flip has definitely changed the style of this team. I wonder how exactly our guys are gonna perform. What I find interesting is that most of the players that started this rivalry in the ECF in 04 or during the brawl aren't playing tonight, at least on our side. So it will be interesting to see if the rivalry still carries over.

Notice I said really overmatched. Obviously Detroit gets the edge at all 5 posisitons tonight, but I think Billups vs. AJ is the only disasterous mismatch that will be exposed.

Fred and Rip is close, Peja and Prince is close, Sheed and Ben vs. Foster and Pollard shouldn't be too bad. All in all we are SLIGHTLY overmatched on paper. The thing that makes Detroit great is they get it done on the court and play as a TEAM.

Gonna need to get hot to pull this one out. Lot of Boom Baby's needed tonight.

Fred might get destroyed...he doesnt do well against Rip. Of course, he's better than most we have.

Frank Slade
02-04-2006, 07:23 PM
I think a few keys willl be if Pollard can Start to keep Harrison Fresh and out of foul trouble... and when Ben goes out , bring Hulk in...

Also if Granger can get going early with his shot forcing Sheed out on the Perimeter... allowing the Pacers to help control the offensive glass..

They go 9 deep nightly. But on the 4th game in 5 nights (like this one), you've got to dig deep. And it's obvious the way the starters played, that they were tired out there.

He got credited with a few misses when he was battling for offensive rebounds and his tips wouldn't go. Past that, he's hit a 3, missed a contested driving layup, and missed a 3.

Should be a typical third-quarter letdown coming up.

This game should be yours if you continue to play with that level of intensity. We seem to be indifferent tonight, which worked last night, but not tonight.

Frankly, if they play the 2nd half like they did the first, I hope they lose. They won't deserve to win.

Good half by Indy. They played a lot better than we did, and they wanted it a LOT more.
