Sarunas is about to set his first record in a Pacers uniform. He is about to break Reggie Miller's rookie season 3pt FGM record! :yikes:

That's right ... with 3 more 3 balls #3 will record his first Pacers record!

This kid is special. I had no idea he was even close. I like JT but JT is going to have to elevate his game a lot in order to bring what Sarunas brings to the table, and I have my reservations that JT can even do it.

Sarunas needs to be starting at point guard the rest of the way! If we're to have any chance at making the playoffs we need him to step up BIGTIME!

Go Sarunas!

Excerpt from pacers.com: Having hit two 3-pt FGS tonight, Sarunas Jasikevicius needs just three 3-pt FGM to break Reggie Miller's Indiana rookie record for 3-pt FG in a season.

Yes, at only 29 years old, Saras will be able to hit more threes than Reggie Miller did when he was 22......

On a side note: the franchise rookie record for threes is only 61? Seriously?

Then again, I can't think of any pacer rookies other than reggie Miller that were real shooters, so it makes sense....

Yeah, I don't think any 3-point shooting record is still around from the 80's...

Even Chuck didnt start really shooting them from downtown until his 4th or 5th year in the league.

Nobody took many threes back then. Reggie took about 2 threes a game, Chuck took less than two, and Saras launches up about 4 a game. If Saras took 300+ threes in a season, and didn't make at least 62, there would be a problem.

Well considering Sarunas is at 59 now, with 147 attempts .... If he shoots 300 threes this season he might break the NBA record too! lol!!!!

He's on pace to shoot about 290. 300 wouldn't be a stretch if his PT increased.

Kstat.....come on....you have to rain on our parade here? With the way things have been going....any little victory or special consideration for a Pacer is worth noting.

With that...I am going to do what I have been doing since the Pacers arrived in "mediocre-ville".....have a little brewsky :buddies:

J/K....I don't drink....I just get depressed....:D

Yeah, I kinda felt bad about it, but damn. This is like Darko holding the Pistons rookie record for blocks per minute.... :D

59 threes? There are 40 players in the NBA with more than that.

To be fair, no rookies, though. Of course no other rookie has attempted nearly as many, either.

I do apologize for raining on the parade. It's beena rather slow night.

That's what always killed me about Reggie.

I remember his first season here. He was a d@mn dunker.

Not like Dr. J or anything but a lot of the times Reggie went straight to the rack.

When he wasn't shooting those he was doing a floater from the wings.

I wish he would have shot less three's over they years & gave us more of that. I'm not kidding when I say his ppg. would have easily been 2-3 more per game.

I agree with you on that. He was such a great all around jumpshooter, I really wished he would have used his mid range game alot more, it all seemed to change when Larry Brown got here and utilized him as a catch and shoot player.I guess he fell in love with that shot or Larry Brown just decided not to utilize that area of his game.

Just to point this out, now that we have Peja we have 3 of the top 10 FT shooters in the league.

last year for Maccabi in the Euroleague he made 55 and that's in 24 games (yes, to win Euroleague you have to play 24 games). he played 31:47 minutes per game in Euroleague (game lasts 40 minutes here).
during his debut season with Maccabi he made 145 triples in 54 games. simmilar numbers with Barcelona. and he never was a scoring leader of the team on average (second-third, something like that).

The funny thing is they won't get to line very often unless there's
one minute to go in the game.

But it's nice to have guys who you can count on to make free throws at the end of the game at three different positions.

On a side note: the franchise rookie record for threes is only 61? Seriously? At the time Reggie set that mark it was the NBA record for most 3pters by a rookie ever, breaking Bird's rookie record. The league has changed alot since then, alot more 3pters are jacked up these days.

Wasn't the 3 pt. line back further when Reggie was a rookie? I'll try and research that.

Ah, they did do it, but they moved it back.

According to Wikapedia..

During 19941995 and 19951996 seasons, the NBA attempted to address decreased scoring (due to tougher style defenses) by shortening the overall distance of the line to a uniform 22 feet (6.7 m) around the basket. Dennis Scott used this rule change to set a record for most three-pointers in a season: 267 in 19951996. From the 19961997 season, the line was reverted to its original distance. With the legalization of zone defense in 2001, the three-point shot became more important, due to its ability to stretch out a zone.

Actually, Luther Head is leading all rooks in 3's made and attempted, by a pretty wide margin.

Congratulations Sarunas!!!! (The Pacers rookie record for 3's is now his alone)

Effort is second to none. I hope he continues to work hard, because if he doesn't he'll backslide, and right now he still has mucho work to do on his defensive game as well as his shooting. It seems as though he's been falling off the pace lately, and I just hope he gets a handle on it right away! He's an important piece to this team- we need him in sync!!!!

Go Saras!!!!
