Folks,

I've generated and uploaded the stats for this season so far. You can find them at:

http://www.pacersdigest.com/~doug/robodoug/05-06/stats.html

The stats for the past three seasons are still out there too:

Doug,

A special thanks to you for going to all the trouble of putting these stats together for us.

Interesting read and something to play with.

Thanks again,

P.S. - Thanks, Doug.

Does he have to be mobile to be a robot? I did have to wheel the server rack to our new computer room the other weekend, so he did get a bit of exercise... I did the applicaiton architecture for a DARPA Grand Challenge entrant last year. (The vehicle was selected to go to the prelims but didn't make the final cut to actually run the challenge.) Now that was a true robot. Perhaps if I had combined the two...

I did use Genetic Programming to "evolve" RoboDoug. I know what stats he uses, but I have no idea how he actually weights everything. But it does appear that whatever he considers important, the Pacers don't do very well. He's been picking them to lose quite a bit lately. I also tried to evolve it toward "lowest average guess". I probably could have done a little better in the contest if I optimized toward "most guesses with a 5 and under off-by".

I really should have him generate and upload the stats webpage after every game. Maybe later this year if I get a chance.

Next year I should have RoboDoug automatically update these after each game. It's probably not more than 30 minutes of coding - I just haven't had the 30 minutes.

You should use the program to predict the score of games....then go to Vegas and bet on over/under.

If not......do me a favor...enter RoboDoug's score about a day before the game and I will use it when I go to Reno.
