This game is about 9,000,000 times more important for the Pistons than it is for the Pacers. I would honestly just like the Pacers to rest everyone for this one so the Pistons can't even pretend like this is a game where they can "gauge" themselves.

This is a BIG GAME for BOTH!! Teams.

If the Pacers win they sweep us and plus they beat the New and Improved Pistons.

If the Pistons win they can say "The Pacers can't beat the NEW LOOK Pistons with Rasheed".

Who ever wins will have the mental edge IMHO.

I agree on the first part. This game is the "Battle for Detroit's Self-Esteem". If we win, it's nice, and I'll be pretty happy. But if we lose, it's not that big of a deal.

Pistons win, they finally have beaten us (once), and if they lose, not only can they still not beat us, but they couldn't do it post-trade and us without our starting PG.

I hope we see alot of AL vs Sheed today. AL needs to make a statement. JO too.

I went to the Pistons board the other day, and most "Pissed-On" fans seem to think that Sheed is better than JO even LMAO
gonna be good matchups for all them.

After the game, I'm really looking forward to reading the posts from Pistons dynasty and kstat and all those other detroit fans who hang out here ;)

may the best team win! (pacers)

That's coming from a Piston fan. This game means NOTHING to the Pacers.

Nothing is going too far. It means something, just not nearly as much as it does to the Pistons.

Nothing is going too far. It means something, just not nearly as much as it does to the Pistons.

The only thing this matters is that we have a better chance to reach 60 wins if we win it. As for mental edges, it means crap. That's more what I was saying.

Ah OK. I mean, the Pacers definitely want to win this to try to prove something, but we have the luxury right now that we don't have to prove anything. We've clinched the Central Title and the East's best record. So yeah, it doesn't mean much of anything, but that doesn't mean we still don't want to stick it to Detroit.

Hicks

Has Jamaal even play against the Pistons this whole season?

He played the backup PG role the first game of the season, but his performance wasn't memorable.

As for the other two....

*goes to check because I can't remember*

He didn't play the 2nd meeting.

He did start the last game we played them, and had 0 points and 5 assists. We were winning that game from start to finish, so I didn't even notice he'd had (statistically) a bad game.

Indyfan

I agree with Hicks on this one. I think we will either come out and play a dominate game led by Ron (JO too but considering his knee he may not play normal minutes and I'm sure Rick won't take any risk with him at this point) and one or two others having a very good game. Or the Pistons will play very well and we won't be able to match the intensity of being on their home court and their wanting to beat us at least once this year. Really I think it could go either way.

I know Rick has talked many times about how hard it is to beat a team 4 times in a row, esp. a top team, so I sort of expect the Pistons to have the edge today although it could go either way. I really don't think it will make that much difference for the playoffs though b/c if we play the Pistons it won't be until the ECF and that is a long time and many games away. How the teams are playing today will have no influence on the how the teams are playing then, its just too far away. I think the Pistons dominated New jersey last year in the regular season at least 2 or 3 games and it had no effect on the outcome of their series with them in the ECF last year.

Without Jamaal it will be hard to guage how we do against their defense as he is clearing our best PG at running the break. I also think if we have Bender in playoffs it could be a huge difference maker for us and that won't show today.

I am hoping for a win, but I won't panic if we lose! :gopacers:

It's an interesting game, that's all, nice to win, but if not we move on, still have homecourt, still win the league (total homecourt) becuase we only need to go 3-3 for that, which would also mean a franchise record, 4-2 for 60 wins, therefore the only thing we can do is win when the cost is low.

Tins will not play JO will play limited minutes, JB is not re-activated and trust me, we will only pursue a win if the cost is minimal.

this is only a "statement game" for the pistons and even that I doubt, they routed/trounced the Nets in the last game of the reg season last yeay and look what it did in the playoffs.

Let them dream of havingt a chance against the P's in the playoffs, they're allowed, in all reality they do not have a hope in hell in defeating the P's in the playoffs, and weed better then JO? lol pink glasses wouldn't even give that result, only idiocy.

still a fun game to watch/listen and the next game on Tuesday :)

For the Pacers the game against the Nets is more important I'm sure, we won this series,. that one is for grabs.

We don't have Tinsley. That's big for us.

No, this is much bigger for Detroit than us. If the Pistons can't beat us now, on their home floor with Tins out, it would be devastating for them.

This officiating is weak. Letting the players play is one thing. They need to call the fouls that occur or we'll be watching early 90's Knick basketball again. Then, when either team reaches the Finals, they'll be dumbfounded on why these bumps, grabs, and reach-ins are all being called fouls again.

ok so far... pacers are playing great... especially AL!! go al!.

If only just one freakin guard could make some shots consistantly this game would be a blow out.

Kenny needs to go check the Palace lost n found to find his shot. At least Reggie can hit a runner. Ron being benched with 3 fouls is hurtin us bad.

If we do lose this game, I bet you anything that ESPN will harp and **** and moan saying that the Pacers are not the best team in the East despite the fact that we have clinched the Central Division, the Eastern Conference, have beaten Detroit three times already, and have been the most consistant team in the East.

One game with Wallace against the Pacers in April without JO being 100%, and without our starting point guard won't tell me much. Clearly this game means much more to Detroit than it does Indiana, and if they win good for them, but they still are not best in the East.

Pacers just need to hit some open shots and try to go inside more. The Pacers transition defense has been good so far.

The officials letting it go is the only hope the Pistons have against us, as we have more skilled offensive players as a whole and play sound defense.

???

If bumps, holds, grabs, and reach-ins are great d, then I agree.

The officials letting it go is the only hope the Pistons have against us, as we have more skilled offensive players as a whole and play sound defense.

down with fluffy bunny basketball.

I want to see the Pacers beat Detroit in a gritty game.

The Pacers are getting looks.......we're just not hitting open shots. If we can just shoot the ball a little better, we can tie and get the lead in the second half. The rest of the game should be pretty close and it'll come down to who makes shots.

Ron not playing much hurt us, as did not having a 100% JO, and no Tins. I'm looking for Ron to having a great second half.

Oh well, I'm outta here. Gotta go visit my grandma with alzheimer's. :(

Win or lose the Pacers are still the best in the East, and the Pistons are the second best in the East, and nobody comes close to either team in the Conference. If both teams get to the Conference Finals that'll determine who's better.

In the regular season, it's the Pacers.

Here's to a good second half with the Pacers winning.

I won't blame the officials, I just don't enjoy this type of basketball. I think there is a clear double-standard on the calls. The Pistons get away with more because the officials become accustomed to seeing them be more physical. On the other end, you get the Pacers picking up more cheap fouls.

However, the Pacers just aren't playing well. If they don't win, they have nobody to blame but themselves.

We don't have to prove that right now.

If we win this game, it's gravy. Detroit needs this to validate any hope of winning the East. We have the whole season and a 3-1 advantage on our side. At best, Detroit might get a one-afternoon-with-Rasheed argument.

This is just embarassing though.

What? The continual newly legalized sodomy?

This is hardly any kind of impressive defense. It's just constantly fouling and hacking and the refs letting the Pistons do it.

Yep. It reminds me of the Kentucky teams under Rick Pitino in college. They fouled so much they figured the refs couldn't call them all. Eventually, they get numb to it.

Yet another example as another CHEAP foul called on Reggie where twice as much contact on the other end isn't even considered for a foul call.
