I was told a long time ago that you know who your friends are when things are tough. Right now things are tough for our Pacers and many are saying all sorts of negative things in the paper and elsewhere. All I got to say is that this team could lose 82 games, and I'd STILL be a Pacers fan!

Go Pacers!!!!!! :sunshine:

I'm with most of you on this....but win or lose...I would be a Pacer fan regardless. I guess all of us have been spoiled by the Pacers being a perennial 1st round playoff team for the last 4 or 5 seasons. I'm just not used to rooting for a team that is in such flux and despair.

To clarify...I love the Pacers....not necessarily the current lineup of Pacers.

I'm still a fan, but I far from "love" this team.

You can still love the Pacers, and be a Pacer fan, without loving every player.

I could say we need to trade every player because we suck, but i'd still be a fan.

I can't wait till this rocking boat rights itself and shuts the ***** out of all the loudmouthed, fair weather, "fans" on this board. (don't mean everybody here)
Just watch, some of the loudest whiners will be going on and on about how they knew it would turn out ok...............

I think that it's important for people to realize that just because someone criticizes the team they love, does not make them any less of a fan.

We all love this team, and we all have the right to criticize it for it's faults. Those of us who do criticize certain aspects of the team are doing it because we care...just as much as the person who says "Go Pacers! I love you guys no matter what!"

It's safe to say that there are no "fair weather" fans on Pacers Digest...I don't think they spend much time on message boards.

I've been always saying occasionally - whatever happens to this goddam team ;), or where Saras will go after (as I'm lithuanian...) - Pacers will remain my NBA team No.1. It's not just about loyalty... :)

Have you ever stopped and wondered what made Coach Wooden so good, and so loved? It's an amazing thing to think about!

Was his style like Coach K, or Bobby Knight, or perhaps a mixture? Makes you think! ;)

Nice post! I still love this team and watch every game. Same thing with the cubs I still love that team but they really **** me off as well. Being passionate is part of loving the team.

I still love the Pacers but love is NOT blind. I can see the faults and will draw attention to the faults.

When you love someone or something you should want them to be at their best. If we weren't Pacers fans, we wouldn't be bothered so much when they lose.

I love the idea of a team that will make the playoffs and have a realistic chance of winning it all. When is that ever going to happen around here?

BULL *****. THere's a HUGE difference between being 'critical' and lots verbal regurgitation that that gets posted here.
Realize that.
There are PLENTY of fair weather fans here..................

To me a fair weather fan is one who is only a fan when the team is winning. Since the Pacers aren't winning I doubt a true fair weather fan would waste his time posting here.

Thank you.

And by PacerMan's definition, I suppose I'm a fair-weather fan because I express my frustration with the team, and suggest ways upon which they can improve.

Well I can say it seriously affects my fandom when I feel TPTB totally lies to the fans during the offseason. I'm still waiting for an explanation from Conrad Brunner on how Bender went from a having a totally clean bill of health by renowned orthopedist Dan Dyrek to having no cartilege left in his knees.
I have too many other interests in my life to feel obligated to 'punch the clock' everyday as a fan when my enthusiasm is nil. Need I recount that this is a team that won 61 games with what looked like the limitless potential of young stars(Artest, Bender, Harrington, O'neal)? Three of them are gone, probably forever. The Pacers are entertainment. I don't question my priorities at all when I drop them for more enriching entertainment.
