My favorite day of the NBA season.

-Only busy Monday of the year

-Only weekday with afternoon NBA games.

As a kid I loved watching the early games (they used to have them on TNT). It felt kinda like march madness, where there are games going on all day.

Today's games: (EST)

1:00- Twolves at Knicks
Sixers at Wizards
Hornets at Bobcats

2:00- Rockets at Hawks
Nuggets at Bulls

3:30- Celtics at Pistons (NBA TV)
Jazz at Clippers
Pacers at Nets

4:00- Sonics at Warriors

8:00- Spurs at Grizzlies (TNT)
8:30- Bucks at Mavs
10:30- Heat at Lakers (TNT)

Enjoy the day, and don't forget to remember MLK.

When you have schools that are 90% or more white and are in areas that didn't experience civil rights movements, it shouldn't be a surprise.

Pig Nash

also some schools are using this as a make up snow day

Slick Pinkham

no school in Florida.

I must work, though.

I live just outside of Detroit and we always had school on MLK day.

One thing I've noticed, is that Larry Brown still has no clue how to handle a zone. Minny has been playing straight 3-2 zone for the last two quarters, and NY has no idea how to handle it.

Not to mention the Knick defense has been super-slow to react to anything Minnesota does.

It's always fun when the Knicks come down to earth.

Looks like both NOK and Washington are going to win in blowouts.

Minnesota's lead has been cut to 9, but there's only 5 minutes left for the Knicks to finish the job.

Twolves snap their 7-game road losing streak. NY came back but Troy Hudson put in the dagger.

Other finals:

:wizards: 104 :sixers: 76

:hornets: 107 :bobcats: 92

I went to elementary school in Farmland, Indiana. It doesn't get much whiter than that place (my friend's dad tried to get me to join the Klan when I was 11). We went to school on Martin Luther King day. I moved to Richmond (Indiana) when I was 12 though, always had that day off.

Didn't Larry Bird make his first return to Boston as the Pacer's coach on MLK Day?

Notice that there is always a game in Memphis on MLK day, given the fact he was assassinated in Memphis.

Lenin, I think Larry Bird made his first appearance in Boston on the Sunday before MLK day.

Yeah that hurt - went from looking like a shot-clock violation and our ball down 2 with 7 seconds left to the end of the game.

But when you get down 19 in the 2nd half these things happen.

two more final scores:

Go :celtics:

defeat evil

edit: dang. Evil wins again. But the Celtics are also evil, just a lesser evil.

More final scores from the afternoon games:

:thepiston 94 :celtics: 84

:nets: 92 :thepacers 87 (just keeping track of all the games, I know you know)

:clippers: 102 :jazz: 93 (OT)

:warriors: 109 :sonics: 93

One common trend I've noticed on MLK day (and afternoon games in general), the home team almost ALWAYS wins.

That trend has been disrupted somewhat today. home team is only 6-3 so far.

Reggie Miller's doing the color commentary for the Grizzlies-Spurs game tonight. You guys might want to tune in to TNT.

You guys just dont know how happy I'm, tears are going down my face right now. Shaq and Kobe hugged.

LMAO This is the funniest thing I have ever seen, TNT went away from the Grizz and Spurs game to show Kobe and Shaq hug, and then they show them hugging from different angles.

Expect ESPN to do a Outside The Lines on this.

It's too bad they couldn't capture the hug in "bullet time" a la that early shot of Trinity in The Matrix.

Don't expect an OTL, expect an ESPN original production.

Jamie Foxx is Kobe Bryant
Shaq is himself

The Hug:
How WWIII Ended

(they couldn't get shaq and kobe to agree to appear in the same movie)
