BostonConnection

I actually think there's a reasonable chance that Carlisle will start Granger over Cro, just depends on whether he prefers a quicker guy (Danny) or a bigger guy (Austin) to start on Odom defensively

Gotta go with Joe Smith. He didn't just tank, he took a team down with him.

Isaac
01-09-2006, 09:42 PM
How could you possibly call Danny Manning a bust?? Sure, he stayed in the NBA too long and injuries killed his career averages, but the guy had plenty of seasons where he was an 18-24 ppg scorer and a 6-7 rpg guy. Sure, he didn't live up to his college career, but bust??

Anyway, :gopacers:

Bust is probably too strong a term for Manning, I just remember all the expectations on him coming out of college as a guy with Magic Johnson or Larry Bird type potential. I have no problems with considering that choice to be a stretch for tonight's poll.

Now we have to put 6'2" Fred Jones on him. :banghead:

01-09-2006, 10:50 PM
I have to say I'm loving Harrison starting. It gives us a huge front line with a 3/4 of Granger/JO, which maximizes both of them, and the other team can't stop Hulk on offense.

Isaac
01-09-2006, 11:52 PM
We are lucky to only be down 2, and the Lakers are lucky to be up. Neither team deserves to have a lead right now. Lets step it up next half.

Also, why didn't Harrison get more time in the second quarter? He was playing well, being aggressive, and then he hardly got off the bench in the second. That didn't make me happy.

I love SJax, but I'm not blind/stupid. He has been a total moron so far during this one. Someone should slap him around during halftime and he shouldn't start the second half.

Maybe Artest for Bynum wouldn't be such a bad deal.

Pacers are wearing down their shots are short. Someone needs to really step up ort the Pacers will lose by about 10 points tonight

Harmonica

Watching the game locally here in LA. The announcers are bemused by all the non-calls: Kobe stepping on Freddie's foot, Bynum traveling, Odom traveling. And of course, Odom's 3-point play from JO's phantom goaltending/bump.

Jermaniac
01-09-2006, 11:56 PM
The best one was when Fred stole the ball from Kobe and the refs wanted to see if Kobe would pick it up. When he didnt and the Pacers got it then they called a foul. That one made my night.

This is just a theory but...........

Shouldnt the best shooter take the last shot?

Jermaniac
01-10-2006, 12:00 AM
Not in Rick Carlisle's system baby, thats how it goes AJ gets whatever he wants. Mr.Big Shot always gets to take the last shot even though he NEVER EVER makes it.

Maybe Artest for Bynum wouldn't be such a bad deal.

Apperantly, you guys offered us Artest for Bynum, George and Miami's first but we turned it down.

Lakers have a big faith in Bynum. Plus, centers with his size, length and athletic ability don't come too often. Besides, kid's already showing some offensive moves and shotblocking ability. He has the feel for the game.
Scary thing if you consider than Kareem is and will be coaching him and plus, Bynum only turned 18 3 months ago. He's year younger than Amare, Curry and other guys who entered the league straight out of HS.

LakerFan
01-10-2006, 12:02 AM
Oh yeah, he's also a hard worker.

He was a fat kid but is now looks great. Also, those who saw him in SPL claim that he really improved his game.

Lakers are high on him. He's going nowhere.

Jermaniac
01-10-2006, 12:02 AM
So the Lakers want Ron bad as I have heard. But they dont want to give up Odom or Bynum. Hmm thats nice. Its like wanting to trade for Tim Duncan and saying Jermaine is off limits to the Spurs.

Lakers won't give up Bynum because he's their future at center. Kobe and Phil are reluctant to give Odom because he takes the pressure off of Kobe as a playmaker. Instead, Kobe can just focus on shooting. If it were me I offer up dimebag and gump. .

JO has about 2 chances to hit 2 FTs and he missed all of them.

The refs were not even the cause of this pathetic loss, tonight.

It was our incapability to hit those oh so hard FT's.

Agreed. We had a chance there at the end, but we would have lost anyway, Kobe would have been bailed out at the buzzer. This refs in this game were just disgusting.

Good game guys. I love the Pacers' "go down swinging" attitude. I know it's been a tough season for y'all but you played a good game. I cringed when Harrison threw down that one over Kwame.

In other news, Kobe is the first player since Wilt Chamberlain (1964) to have 4 straight games with 45+ points or more. Hats off to my dude.

Was he on the bench when JO took that three?

I'm pretty sure he was on the floor, but either way, he should have took it, he's at least one the clutch players on this team.

Okay...so from what I can tell....missed FT cost us the game ( from everyone ) and Jax / Sarunas not hitting a FG from the field doesn't help at all ( although Sarunas making it to the line seemed to make up a little for that ).

Hmmm...who to blame for this loss....who to blame....? Apparently the Refs....then SJax, then JONeal and then Sarunas.

Jack hada a rather miserable night..Poor guy. One night he has 31 pts and had 5 3's in the third. The next night battling foul trouble and only having 8 points. Fred got fouled out AGAIN! :kickcan:

I think it's weird how one night we're shootin .591 from downtown then the next we're 3-16 .188 this isnt the first time either we've been doin that for a while.

Danger had a great game though! He practically handled Odom. He also made Kobe get a "T" .. Another good game for him :)

We are such a better team than the Lakers. If it weren't for the refs we'd be up by 6 or 7, at least. If our guys can really gel as the season progresses, we're gonna be good. Real good.

I read this whole thread just to find the dumbest comment about the refs and here it is.

The Pacers shot 42 FTs and you're blaming the refs? That, my friend, is hysterical.

What you fail to see Mr_Basketball is the refs awarded the free throws to Indiana players they KNEW would miss them. That's how the refs cheated the Pacers at the same time made the 42 to 31 freethrow disparity in the Pacers favor look legit.

How's Kobe's shoulder doing? It took a beating from Grangers teeth the likes of which hasn't been seen since the back of Fred Jones' head pummeled Ben Wallace's brother's fist into oblivion.

Furthermore,

Measuring the # of FTs to determine the quality of the officiating is absurd. They sucked. They treated Kobe like he was Christ, and the Lakers guards couldn't touch us along the perimeter. It went both ways.
