With only 10 games remaining in the regular season, I think it's about time to dust off those ballots and place your votes for this year's NBA awards. I'll keep a running tally of everything and sticky the results when the regular season is over, for comparison to the actual awards. :)

Please bear in mind that this is the first time that I've done something like this, so if I forget anything (and I'm sure I'll forget something obvious ) like a category or something, please LMK and I'll add it. ;)

Now, on to the categories!

6th Man of the Year: Harrington

Coach of the Year: Hubie up til about a month ago it was Sloan.

Defensive Player of the Year: Artest

Most Improved Player: Brad Miller Except for his FT% he has improved in every statistical catagory. Check out his stats from NBA.Com

http://www.nba.com/playerfile/brad_miller/index.html?nav=page

Assist form 2.6 to 4.4, blocks from .59 to 1.17

I know it'll go to Randolph, Redd or Boozer but their stats are boosted by a big increase in minutes played. Brad is playing slighly more than 5 more MPG than last season.

Most Valuable Player: Garnett

Rookie of the Year: James I wish Hinrich would get it, this kid is the next big time point guard. Stepped in as a rookie at the hardest position on the floor & is "the man". Considering what the Bulls have done this season, Hinrich is nothing short of amazing.

I'm afraid I'm not terribly original, but hey, that wasn't a requirement that had to be met ;), so here goes:

6th Man of the Year
Antawn Jamison - Dallas Mavericks

Coach of the Year
Hubie Brown - Memphis Grizzlies

Defensive Player of the Year
Ron Artest - Indiana Pacers

Most Improved Player
Michael Redd - Milwaukee Bucks

Most Valuable Player
Kevin Garnett - Minnesota Timberwolves

Rookie of the Year
Lebron james - Cleveland Cavaliers

I had some trouble picking the MIP, as there are some very decent candidates in Carlos Boozer, Brad Miller, Zach Randolph, but also a player like Andrei Kirilenko who already was pretty good, but burst loose this season after the Stockton-Malone tandem left. I gave Redd the nod though. He's not only a brilliant sharpshooter he also plays defence, leads his team and has a variety of moves, besides having decent cout vision himself too, besides I had to give Milwaukee something as they have done very well this season in my opinion.
