View Full Version : It's fascinating watching the Pistons fans argue over Rick.

Seems devisive to say the least. Some think he was never good and deserved to be fired (or they were at least happy to see him go), others think it was dumb and love the guy.

I found this guys remarks interesting if not accurate.

Let me first say that I liked Rick Carlisle. I didn't always agree with his methods, but he was and still is a good coach.

However, we made an obvious upgrade in our coaching this season. Rick is, IMHO, the best young coach in the league, and is more than likely destined for great things. However, Larry Brown has already done great things. He's done just about everything possible, short of winning an NBA championship. So I think we definately improved in the coaching department.

The problem is that Indiana improved their coaching more so than we did. Now, I am NOT saying that Carlisle is better than Brown. What I am saying is that Carlisle is a bigger improvement over Zeke than Brown is over Carlisle.

That, IMHO, is the biggest difference between the teams this year and the teams last year. That said, Carlisle hasn't showed that he can be a playoff-winning coach in my mind, especially when compared to Larry. I know he will be there someday, but we witnessed firsthand that Rick doesn't like to make adjustments, which is what the playoffs are all about.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Let's start a new streak.

Why do you call it trolling for me talking a little trash when my team just beat yours? It's not like I'm rampage in here spamming a half dozen posts saying Wallace sucks and that JO's the best O'Neal. Hardly.

Also, the "don't get too hight, don't get too low" attitude is exactly what the Pacers have right now. Watching post game interviews, they have the perfect attitude right now. They're happy to have won, but they don't feel they've won squat yet and won't until they do it in the playoffs. So it's not like they're walking on air and just asking for a smackdown here. They know how good you guys are and want to be ready everytime they meet.

You tell em hicks

Dont expect rational responses when you beat a team and go on to THEIR message board. I know that lesson well. I skim opposing MBs a LOT, but I never POST on them after we beat another team. A person is intelligent, PEOPLE are stupid.

Yeesh, why cant you just leave them alone......

You guys know me though, there's a difference. A guy with "1" under his post count spouting something you may not agree with after you are in a bad mood to BEGIN with, thats something a little different.

Its human nature to get defensive at times like this, especially against people that you dont know.

Oh, I'd DEFINATELY be here, in a non-trash-talking capacity. I'm just not sure if someone else saying the things I say would be treated with the same respect.

A person is intelligent, PEOPLE are stupid.

I think it's:

"A person is smart. People are X, Y, Z, and A, and you know it."

Good movie, by the way. Too bad I can't think of the adjectives he used.
