You have to remember the '70s (or the '80s) to know who she is.

Bette Midler!! Wow you all are young. She was an all-purpose entertainer, still is, I suppose. I guess you'll find out Wednesday night, hopefully AFTER Reggie's appearance. If you have access to free music somewhere on the web, listen to this song: "The Rose". Everyone's heard that song on the radio at some point in their lives.

Well...I wouldn't go THAT far...At least you will come away from listening to the song being able to say that you expanded your 'known music' encyclopedia by one song, but that is about it in my book...I guess maybe it's the genre she dwells in that turns me off...She obviously has talent, but I would note her for her acting contributions more than singing!! I like the movies she is in where she plays some psycho bee-ya-itch!

I think Bette lives in NYC, so I'm guessing she at least knows who Reggie is. I could be wrong...

I'm only in my late 20's but I think she's a very attractive lady. And I'm not saying that "the rose" sums up her career, but just as historic reference for those who have never heard of her.

I always thought of her as one that fits in the category of "Not even if we were the last two people on Earth, and humanity's only hope for procreation."

Ms. Midler's shows were always campy or in the burlesque vain of entertainment. For men that was a good thing.

Just because it's racy doesn't mean it's good....you want to see Roseanne out there with nothing but a feather boa and a microphone?
You gotta be advertising a good product before burlesque is effective!

Nope. As far as I know, Neil Diamond was never a second fiddle to Bette Midler...............

http://www.barrynet.com/biography.html

Then, in 1972, Barry met Bette Midler and became her music director, arranger and pianist. He co-produced and created arrangements for her first Grammy Award-winning album, The Divine Miss M, as well as her second platinum album, Bette Midler. Barry had signed with Bell Records (which later became Arista Records) to make his solo album debut when Bette persuaded him to remain as her music director for her first national tour. Barry opened the second half of Bette's show with three original songs that literally stopped the show.

She doesn't strike me as much of a sports fans. She's probably take one look at him and say "You're kinda tall. Ever think about playing basketball?"

Thanks for the info about Barry, Magicrat. I could probably pick him out of a lineup, but I don't think I'd recognize his voice if someone played him for me. Neil Diamond, maybe... Barry - no.

Gyron - ???? WTF r u talkin about?

Bette betta' not be trippin tomorrow night.
