Have to start this game thread early, going to be away from a PC until after the game starts. At least this one is on ESPN!

(Guess the networks figured they have to show the Pacers on TV sometime... :unimpressed: )

1st quarter defense by the Pacers = :unimpressed: :unimpressed:

Oh wait, there's NO defense intensity by the Pacers at all

Roaming Gnome
03-24-2004, 08:35 PM
Yep, horrible defense...eventhough we have the lead...er... check that. Just a terrible effort on the Defensive end. Did Dallas even work for a single bucket?

Southside_Pacer
03-24-2004, 08:37 PM
Not that I could see. Most of their buckets were layups....

For a team that prides itself on defense first, they're not playing with any. Yeah, we're missing JO, but that's beside the point. We're playing their game, they're not playing ours.

Southside_Pacer
03-24-2004, 08:44 PM
Still no defense what so ever being played by the Pacers.

Bradley makes a wide open shot. :unimpressed: Dallas's 22 out of 30 first quarter points were in the paint. Pacers look :unimpressed: early. It's not cause we don't have JO either...

Eventhough we are missing JO. No one on the team is playing individual defense. We are getting beat on "basic" pick and rolls and inbounds plays. The only thing I see J.O. helping, is getting in someone's ***** about playing harder, or leading by example!

Or.....I dunno.........blocking and altering shots?

We have no one that can do that with Bender and JO out.

Hell, we can't even stay infront of whoever we are guarding

Sean Elliott: "It's amazing they have the best record in the NBA playing defense like this"

Southside_Pacer
03-24-2004, 08:55 PM
Dallas is able to really run any set play that they want to run. Most of these are either shots in the paint, or an uncontested jump shot that they are making.

We're a step slow, and right now we don't look mentally in this game. This is the worst I've seen us play in awhile.

Perhaps this technical foul on Carlisle will wake them up and get them to do something.

Just got home a few minutes ago and started watching the game on ESPN. The Pacers look listless, and frickin' Shawn Bradley is out there hitting outside shots. I think I've seen this episode before... :(

At least the Pacers decided to look alive after the Carlisle technical foul. I'm guessing he got the T on purpose to send a message.

Ron has the attitude on defense and the physical play that we're needing. Our shot selection is better, and we're trying to go to the basket.

We just can't let them get any offensive boards. Now we need stops.

That was as disgusted as I have been all season long.

Horrible defense by the Pacers. If you don't play great defense against the Mavs, tough physical defense, they will score 120points.

Pacers finally started to get a little physical the last 4 minutes of the first half.

We might not be playing well, but Dallas could easily lose this with all the technical fouls that they are getting. They are whining and complaining after every single call that is going against him.

I will not type what Cuban thinks of it because there are children who read these boards.

The thing I fear in this game is the fact that Dallas is shooting their jumpers well tonight. In our last matchup, We were all over Dallas like a rash, and the shots they got were not in rhythem. Tonight, our defense is cranked up, but Dallas seems to be in a rhythem shooting. Scary!
