I must say watching him play last night was a very pleasant surprise to me. I was one who thought he should be traded, released, or otherwise disposed of somehow. I was impressed with his game.

If he can play the season at this level he will be a huge asset to the Pacers chances for a championship season.

He didn't play any differently in the Sacramento game the season before last (otherwise known as the thinking man's Christmas game.)

When he's healthy, this is how he plays. People seem to forget that.

He's always been good, and at 7ft perfectly capable of playing SF, PF, and C. He was drafted right out of high school but injuries have plauged him throughout his career. Hopefully, he'll be able to put together a 70+ game season this year. I def think that if it weren't for the injuries, he would be starting.

But that's the whole problem.

He has to be able to do this for more than one game at a time. He will be more detriment than good if he can only play 2-3 games & then have to sit out with soreness in his knee.

But there is no doubt, when he is on he can be a devastating force to try & stop. Thus making it all the more frustrating that the guy will not/cannot play through pain.

I decided to keep my Jackson Pinstripe. So I just have to get Tins, Hulk, and hopefully Bender.

I think it's funny how people think if Bender has to sit out occasionally between games he will be a "Detriment"

Yeah right, if he plays 1 out of 3 games, i am fine with that. Especially if he can play like he did last night. That just means teams will not be expecting him, making him that much more unstoppable for that night. Also meaning guys like Ronnie/JO could play less minutes (on a particular night, if Bender can perform well)

But, i obviosly want nothing more than Bender to play like that every game. Can you imagine a healthy bender starting.

Tins/Jack/Ron/Bender/Jermaine.....that lineup would scare ANY team in this league. I'd love to see Bender just jump over guys like Shaq and the Wallaces.

Then bringing in Saras/Fred/Granger/DH/Foster off the bench, it just seems a bit too ridiculous for us to not win a championship, barring some disaster.

I have trouble getting excited about a 7 footer with supposed outstanding leaping ability who has 3 rebounds in 42 minutes.

There weren't any left... Danny and Ronnie got them all.

I never worry about individual rebound stats unless we get outrebounded. We outrebounded them 54 to 40.

Well since the stats I quoted were the cumulative stats for the 3 games
Bender played in, 2 of which we got outrebounded badly, I think there is definite cause for concern.

Which you know HOW??? Funny how I've never seen ANYWHERE but this forum the idea that Bender can't/won't play through pain. None of us knows what his injury was like or how it felt. Tons of frustration that he WAS injured, but never have I seen any indication from Pacer brass that they shared your opinion.
And that's all it is unless you've got something to back it up.

I agree with the original post (I know, I know, like father like son). JB was impressive to me last night. He was agressive to the basket and made his free throws. IF, Bender can play a majority of this season, he'll be huge, most likely the difference in a game or two. He's a match-up nightmare, which we all know, and if he wants he can take a game over (at least a preseason game anyway). JB, JVicius, and DGranger will be HUGE this year, absolutely HUGE.
