Sad that we lost the game and apparently didn't have much defense but was impressed with Bender at the free throw line. Didn't realize he shot well at the stripe nailing 11-14. Must have done a good job attacking the basket and drawing the foul.

If someone can keep up with Bird in a game of HORSE then I assume they can knock down some freethrows.

GO JB.

JB attacked the rim hard and got to the line. He also missed several wide-open mid-range shots I would expect him to hit if he continues to stay on the court. He poses all kinds of match-up problems, and IMO can really help out the team if he plays more than 6 games.

Well, last year he played seven!

But I still don't think he helped us out much...:D

I wasn't surprised. He played the same way he has since he got up to 219 two years ago. I was disappointed in his shot, but the good news was it was obvious he was as well. I'm sure he'll get it back.

I'm not going to allow myself to get my hopes up for JB actually contributing this year. I'll be skeptical of him actually making a contribution until I see it happening for an extended period of time in the regular season.

Bender looked good last night, it looks like he has that explosive first step back this year, and was attacking the basket pretty much at will. Its only the first game so I don't want to get my hopes up, but its very encouraging.

This is the year folks, the pacers community is due for a blessing of this sort.

BELIEVE in it people.

Ever heard of self fulfilling prophecies?

Jesus, if everyone supported Bender it would be a different story. I expect Bender to be the best bench player in the league this year. Thats right folks.

Impressive performance by JB, he's always been a confident foul shooter. It's an important part of the game, and he can stroke 'em.

The important questions are:

Did he practice today?

Will he play tomorrow?

There is no doubt in my mind Bender will be a beast if he can stay healthy.

True Dat, Eindar. Listening to Slick, though, he was very enthused with Bender's aggressivness. Maybe its a good first step for Bender going from a pretty player to an effective player.

I really want Bender to have his "breakout" year. I just hope he can stay healthy. It would be nice to have some more depth.

Mike Wells of the Star said that Bender indicated he felt good was a little sore but that was it....
