Soooo with a dress code in place... if someone choses to violate that and just pay the fine (Iverson for example) doesn't that feed into the perception (even giving it more fuel) ?

Note: I am not talking in racial stereotypes but simply mean as far as presenting the NBA as a more business like professional collective rather than dressing casually like it's a job at the 7-11. So if someone (especially high profile) snubs their nose at this dress code it will stand out even more than if a dress code didn't exist.

Or am I wrong here?

It's just another example of Stern bringing the hammer down instead of trying to reach a compromise.
