I just got though playing and beating 'Need For Speed, Hot Pursuit.'

Right now I'm playing the 'Hot Pursuit' part of the game and I've won gold in all but two games where I'm the cop. You're supposed to catch 7 speeders for the gold and I keep catching 6 in both games.

I've noticed something. Seems like players tend to focus on one type of game. Players yend to stick with RPGs or Sports games, or shooters. I don't notice a lot of mixing of game types (Except Halo 2, which seems to cross all boundries.)

Anyone else notice this?

I've been playing NCAA Football (unbelievable football simulation.), Halo 2 & Deus Ex.

They should make a Ray Lewis football game.

You know, a combo overrated-but-incredibly-loud-football-game/first-person-shooter, that morphs into an RPG where your character has to escape a police man-hunt. Maybe have a cameo from Jamal Lewis trying to distrbute cocaine to your character. Anyone?

Best-game-ever.

Sadly, it'd be so popular that it'd spawn thousands of inferior titles, a'la Super Mario. <SubtleMagicRatCue>

I can't wait for Shadow of the Colossus - I enjoyed ICO quite a bit and Colossus looks really cool.

I picked up Myst: Uru Complete Chronicles last night for $10, about two years late. I've always enjoyed the Myst games and I heard good things about this last one (even if the most interesting ambitions went unfulfilled).

last years Madden and last years NBA Live for the PC

I am debating with myself if I should get a XBOX 360.

If you are a primarly sports game player you can wait for the XBOX 360 nba 2k6 is awesome on it but thats were it stops. Madden might actually make you cry because it is ruined with the new format. Live is a 1/4 of what it is suppose to be. There isn't ANY good games for XBOX 360 especially for the $60 price tag for the games.

Neal has a fairly impressive collection of RPGs. I'm contemplating starting a new game, but I don't know which one to choose! :whoknows:

I've only played a few games, including Final Fantasy VIII, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (I & II), Silent Hill, and Chrono Trigger, and I liked them all. I think I'm already spoiled (since I know these games are some of the very best in their genre).

Been playing Kingdom Hearts 2, which is pretty good. Strangely nostalgic, it continues the series' tradition of ridiculous juxtapositions. Traipsing about in a super-realistic Pirates of the Carribean-based world with Donald, Goofy and a Japanese-style kid is just kind of...odd. Some of the stages are quite inspired (Steamboat Willie, Tron), while others are just insipid (The Little Mermaid, Mulan). All in all, an enjoyable diversion.

It's a good game; I've been putting kids literally in Tears with the run and gun they are allowing this year. I can't believe how good the QB's can throw on the run. I heard one kid throw his controller and start screaming, his mom (or somebody) came in and was asking him "what was wrong" then started screaming at him, he started crying so hard; it was the funniest thing I've ever experience on an Online Game. I wish I had a recorder so you guys could enjoy it as much as I did. I would post it all over youtube.com and myspace.

I had it on the PS2 and then I loaned out said PS2 and game (I was at the FINAL MISSION). I never got the PS2 back and I wasn't too pissed because I knew it was on it's last legs. So instead of buying a new PS2 to try to beat it again, I got a copy of San Andreas for the XBOX. I'm almost 3/4 through the missions in San Fierro.

Man I used to love that game when it came out, one of my faves at the arcade. I play it on emulator from time to time still.

I finally got my PS2 back out and set the XBox aside. I had a ton of PS2 games I never got to once Halo2 hit and some other Xbox stuff (including the 2K sports).

Messed with GTA:SA a little bit and then dug into finally playing Tony Hawk Underground (blast) and Resident Evil: Veronica (okay, but rough compared to stuff like GTA's or Tomb Raider's controls...I forgot how awkward RE games used to be).

Tony Hawk is as addictive as SSX and the world is GTA big, at least GTA3. Love that free roam style of play, but with enough goals to keep it moving along.

After those I'm going to knock out Max Payne 2 and Onimushu 2. Then I'll trade in and try God of War finally.

NBA 2K6 on the Xbox 360

The 4-0 Atlanta Hawks vs. the 0-4 Nuggets...

The Hawks raced out to a 10-0 lead, and it looked like the game was pretty much over but then the Nuggets sharpshooters took over...

http://www.nba.com/media/act_carmelo_anthony.jpg was a man among boys and could not be stopped. Oh wait, wrong player...

Andre Miller with a career mark .216 from dowtown was just fantastic, his contested and horrific looking threes and ridicously long twos were drawing nothing but net. He played like Carmelo and Carmelo played like Andre, strangely enough. He actually brought the Nuggets back by himself, and for the next couple of minutes the two teams traded baskets.

Then the Nuggets devised a brillant defensive scheme. They decided to allow the Hawks' deadly shooters wide open shots, and suprisingly the Hawks missed. Then they allowed the Hawks to drive the lane and giving them great looks to boot. But again this scheme worked to perfection as the Hawks could not buy a basket even when the Nuggets were actually trying to get scored on.

Then J.R. Smith with a .394 career FG%, took over where Andre left off. Smith could not be stopped he was shooting contested threes 3-4 inches behind the line and was swishing them with ease.

The Nuggets started to pull away when their interior defense started to play extremely well...

http://www.nba.com/media/act_marcus_camby.jpg was just a wrecking crew on defense... oh crap wrong player again...

http://www.nba.com/media/act_earl_boykins.jpg anchored the defense, and somehow could contest the shots of every single player even the opposing big men. He completely shut down the inside.

The Hawks were now down fifteen points when they were up by ten just seven minutes before. They finally got a break when Carmelo was actually allowed to touch the ball and at times even allowed to shoot. Heck they even brought the score within five with 58 seconds left in the second quarter. But then Jalen Rose hit a three, and the Hawks turned it over. The Nuggets then got a three point play opportunity, only to miss. But then scored on the tip back and got another three point play opportunity in which they converted.

The second half settled down and some normalcy appeared to return but then timely BS shots kept the Nuggets in the lead. In the fourth the Hawks once again rallied to get the score within four but clutch shots by the streaky scorer of...

http://www.nba.com/media/act_michael_olowokandi.jpg and wide open bricks allowed the Nuggets to win... :unimpress

In unrelated news, naturallystoned is now moving to cabin in the mountains to get away from technology...

Erm, second one. Sorry, I can see how that was confusing, guess I shouldn't have capitalized it. But, the boss does cast Sap in addition to the field effect, so it's like one great big no HP party. I wonder if I could cast Bubble on the people with the Bubble Belts...would that give me some kind of Double Bubble...? Even if I used Penelo (who has the most MP), I think the number would still be less than what my Bubble Belts give me. I'm going to gain a couple more levels and then go back and try it again.

As far as the Clan provider goes, I don't think anything should go away once you gain a rank... Nothing has for me, anyway. I'm not sure why you can't buy it. I haven't seen it anywhere else, either, although I usually overlook anything greyed out.

I don't think I've ever beat a game in 3 days (about 4 hours each day). It was fun while it lasted (except for the next to last giant who had 2 secrect vulnerability point of which I found the 2nd one first and spent like 2 hours one day trying to get to a spot I wasn't allowed to get to). Worth the $20, definately glad I didn't buy it full price.

So someone give me the skinny on FFXII. Obviously you guys love it, but keep in mind I'm a hardcore FF player, and have been playing since I was...7 with the original FF. Having said that, I feel the series is going down the crapper, with every incarnation focusing more on gameplay and graphics, when I prefer they stick to a compelling storyline. I was planning on completely blowing this one off, but it's set in Ivalice, and is done by the guy that did my favorite FF of all time, FF Tactics.

So, give me a brief synopsis? Will I hate this game? Or does it have some sort of storyline to keep me interested?

Think that's bad? I just beat the original Super Mario Brothers (on the Nintendo Entertainment System) for the first time this week. And guess what? I didn't use any warp zones, honest! SMB2 and SMB3 pale in comparison with the difficulty of the original IMO - I know cause I beat them too! I'm having the best winter break of my life, and it's very depressing that these video game victories are the highlights of my college years.

Just for a mental picture, my mom and dad sat on either side of me on our couch as I beat SMB2 and SMB3 (once in Frog suit, once in Tanooki suit - which I have always called Tamagachi because I'm an idiot, and once as a Hammer dude). I may or may not have been wearing a shirt.

Oh, if anyone remembers SMB3 (I mean, it only came out 17 years ago, so it should still be fresh in your minds), try to argue against the Goomba's Shoe as the coolest thing ever. You can't.

So, give me a brief synopsis? Will I hate this game? Or does it have some sort of storyline to keep me interested?

Uh, I can't help you too much since I hadn't played a FF since that original one for NES. But this one has been really enjoyable. And the jist I've gotten from the few people I know who own it is that it's been their favorite FF in a number of releases.

I've been a pretty big FF fan since 6 was 3. Played all the main games and most of the spin-offs from the SNES to the PS2. I thought the last two entries (ignoring 11, which should have been a spin-off) had strong stories and characters, however, so we probably diverge a bit on that point. So that's where I'm coming from.

Having said that, I think FF12 is rather weak on both story and character development. The plot has so far been disappointingly straightforward (and I'm pretty close to the end), without many of the unexpected twists FF is known for. The story is much less epic in scale, mainly focusing on politics - much like Tactics, so you may like it more than I. Even though the quest itself is longer, it just seems like there's a lot less to the story than there usually is. The party is disappointing for the most part. Vaan and Penelo are almost completely useless story-wise, and Fran and Basch are greatly under-utilized. Ashe and Balthier are really the only fully-realized characters.

On the other hand, the gameplay is fantastic. Probably the best of the series. They've crafted a perfect blend of ATB and MMO combat. The whole Gambit thing seems like a terrible idea at first, but it's really just a new system of management - you delegate instead of micromanage. Battles become more strategic, if anything. In most FF games, I'm plain tired of fighting by the end of the game, but I'm still enjoying killing things here. The License Board is not as inspired as 10's Sphere Grid, but it's still a great system. Like the Gambits, it seems like a terrible idea at first but it grows on you. And as you may have determined from my other posts in this thread, the sidequests are nearly endless, and never feel like a chore thanks to the battle system. And that's not even touching upon the outstanding art direction...

Anyway, take that for what you will.

Been playing a handful of games lately. I just got Lost Planet which has been amazing. It feels like a 3D contra done right with some Bionic Commando aspects thrown in.

Also I've been playing Viva Piņata on occation which despite the show is really fun. It's always fun trying to get new species in your garden and "converting" the sours.

The rest of my gaming time has been spent between Gears and Oblivion. I may just play Gears on occasion if I can get most of the achievements. And after pouring 100+ hours into Oblivion I still haven't felt like completing the main storyline.

YAY ME!!!

Oh my...how did this thread make it so far down the list. Well I've been playing NBA Street Homecourt for the 360 to death lately. It's pretty good, I'd place it a notch above Street V.3 but a little below Vol 2. The graphics on the courts are incredibly realistic. I have an absolutely HUGE gripe about the gameplay though. You might as well not even attempt to actually shoot the ball because everything that's not a dunk gets blocked. Once I stole the ball and had an uncontested breakaway and shot from deep only to see all three computer opponents fly into the screen and block the shot. I know it's a minor gripe in a game that's all about insane handles and dunks but it would be nice to be able to actually shoot to win a close game.

I also got some new Xbox live Arcade games, Alien Hominid and TMNT 1989 Arcade Game. I forgot how many of my quarters that game took back in the day.

I also picked up Rogue Galaxy for the PS2 and so far it has been VERY enjoyable. It's right up there with the best RPG's the PS2 has to offer in terms of quality and depth. And you truly won't believe the visuals that the PS2 is pumping out on this game. It doesn't rival any of the next gen systems but it has to be considered one of the best looking PS2 titles available. Very smooth, very well done.

That's about it for now.

I downloaded Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on Xbox Live Arcade early this morning. I played the original for PS1 and this is a direct port of that game. Any of you 360 owners out there who never played the original, you owe yourselves to check out this classic. It truly is one of the best games ever made, and it stands up surprisingly well even after 10 years.

Yes, the game is amazing, and one of the best side-scrollers ever made. I've been sitting on my Greatest Hits PS1 version for a while now. I had an extra sealed copy I actually sold a few months ago for $70.

They're also going to be releasing this (with extras) on the PSP in a package with a revamped version of Rondo of Blood. I can't freakin' wait.

Perhaps not the most refined gameengine ever but the scope, setting and atmosphere makes it the best game of it's type since the "old" days of system shock 1 - 2 and Deux Ex.

Yeah the game is great!! I just got to the Inverted Castle today. The only bad thing is I have yet to listen to the game's actual music. I've been just playin' John Legend's Heaven, over and over again.

Guitar hero I,II are quite addicting! When me and my friends are done playing, my eyes are usually watering and I see when Joel Zumaya had trouble pitching!

The sad thing is that my buddy's girlfriend came over the other night, and just embarassed us in the Pro-Face off.. and we were only on hard! We went up to expert, and it was ugly.. I pretty much forgot what song I was suppose to be playing!

Oh well, I recently picked up Resident Evil 4 and God of War I off of ebay for only $14. Pretty good deal I thought for what are suppose to be two of the best PS2 games. I deffinitely like RE4 the best out of the two. GoW has some impressive graphics and all, but the gameplay is too simple for my tastes.
