I played All Pro Football 2K8 this morning.

I'm really excited about the TNA game that comes out in September.

Has anyone seen the DC Comics vs. Mortal Kombat ads?

That game would have been cool back in 1998, but not 2008.

Marvel vs. Capcom beat them to it.

Unreal Tournament 3

I'm new to the series; it is fun if you are into shooters - nothing else really like it on the 360 at least.

It is like Gears of War, Halo, and Bioshock got together and had a baby. Then if you put that baby on crank, you have UT3.

Unreal is what I used to play before Halo came out. It was quite fun and the online multiplayer wasn't too bad. Unreal Tournament 2004 was the last one I played (previous edition before 3), and it was great. It really isn't any better than Halo, but I haven't played the latest installment yet, but I'd give it a try.

I feel you, I've played it only a few times since I beat it. Luckily I took my time while completing the story, but it has no replay value - even with multiplayer - compared to San Andreas, for example.

Mario Kart DS - Must have if owning a DS

Mario Party DS - Good Game, Fun with friends

Guitar Hero: On Tour - Nice addition to Guitar Hero series

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - So much fun and lasts a while. Games are around $12, so they are worth it. (They are a little hard to find)

Still playing Metal Gear Solid 4. I've beaten it several times but this game has TONS of replay value. Earlier I said that MGS4 was not the kind of exclusive game that sells systems. I'm starting to think otherwise. I bet there are a lot of people that bought a PS3 just to play this. Duke, I know you said that you aren't digging the PS3 right now but you should give MGS4 a try.

I can't remember if I've asked this before, but have you guys noticed how often the N word is used on X-Box360?

It drives my brother and I crazy. I play Halo 3 mostly with some Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 thrown in. It's become a sad joke between us to see if we can go a single day without;

a.) Someone talking, then someone else going, "Is that a Nig*** I hear?" or "Sounds like we have a Nig playing."

b) Damn, you play like a N...or some variation on the phrase.

What is up with that? Maybe some of you don't notice it, but being Black, man, it's amazing how freely and often the word is used, and not in the rap star, you're my brotha way, but as an insult.

For what it's worth, I use the reporting system heavily, along with the prefer or avoid this player function. I just can't believe how common it is. My brother actually has people boot him from a room when they realize he's Black.

You guys come across the same thing? Do you use the reporting system?

Spicoli
09-04-2008, 06:24 PM
I hear it all the time, every game.

I'm repeatedly amazed at the stuff people will say behind the anonymity of Xbox Live. The "N" word is abused the most by far. I've also found that females take the most abuse on Live as soon as someone figures out that they are not 12 year old pre-pubescent boys.

The immaturity level is shocking.

I use the reporting and mute features extensively, although I also will set my voice options to "friends only" from time to time when I need a break from the idiots that infest Live.

Not wanting to really bring this up again but after tonights gaming session i have found the most disturbing part of it, it seems to me there is a lot of teenage girls saying the most nastiest stuff... having played about 22 Hours of COD4 now it seems like i have seen a pattern and i agree it's disturbing...

Just in general all the real nasty words are used with out hesitation...

I haven't used any reporting, i just mute and find a difference game

anyways just my two cents..

Jees Tigers Woods is a good game.. bloody addictive... n starting as a jr in career mode is hard, my first round i was 33 over par...

If you're 1) A Gold Xbox Live Member and 2) A Netflix subscriber (well, anything more than the cheapest account), you have access to their streaming media library of movies/tv shows/documentaries. A modest selection right now, but pretty cool nontheless. Very watchable video. If the connection is high at the time, it's pretty much DVD quality. No cost beyond the subscriptions you're already paying for (Gold Live, Netflix).

If they had set a date of late 2009, and launched with their current price points they would have done MUCH better. The features on the PS3 are nice, but in 2006, the benefit of having one wasn't there yet. It's a different story now as the things that make the PS3's features worthwhile have hit critical mass. With HDTV's so prevalent now, a Blu-Ray player with HDMI out capable of 1080p makes more sense now than it did in Nov. 2006. The fact that broadband internet is much more entrenched now that it was then also helps. If they had waited, everyone who wanted a 360 or Wii would have already had one and made a new shiny console that much more attractive. In a recent software update they added flashplayer support that will allow it to stream Hulu in standard or HD, making many good TV shows and several feature length films available for no extra cost. Had they waited the PS3 would have launched with this capability. Software support would have been better because developers would have had more time to get rolling with it, and been more excited to develop for it had there been a delay. I considred selling it several times, but I'm glad I stuck with it this long now that many of the promises Sony made are being delivered. I just hope it starts selling and it's not too little too late. Anyhow that's my :twocents:. I'd be interested to see thoughts on this if anyone thinks Sony would have been better or worse off had they delayed the PS3 launch.

Definitely my favorite game, no question. Yes, the DS version is well done. They have some other things added in, a battle mode of some sort, plus a couple new dungeons which I haven't tried yet. There's also a new ending. But it's well done, and well designed for touchscreen use. They kept the old graphics rather than updating like they did for FFIV, but I like it that way.

Left 4 Dead (for the PC). Been playing it a lot lately. It's a fun game, especially when playing Versus online, since it's unlike anything else I've played. It really relies on using teamwork (whether you're the humans or the zombies). Even if you have extreme individual skill, it won't mean a thing if you don't work together.

That being said, it's also maddeningly frustrating... at least the PC version. The game still feels as if it's a beta release, as there are so many small bugs to fix and improvements they could make, which would really make it worthwhile. I've also read it has issues running on certain systems (like mine), specifically with Vista. At least once per day my game tends to just lock up and cause the video drivers to stop working for a good 2 minutes. Also the online servers seem to be very laggy, and you can't control which server you join - it's an automated matchmaking/lobby system which really sucks compared to most shooters.

I see from the xbox board that a lot of you play left 4 dead. Can anybody tell me if it is worth picking up for the 360?

BTW, I went to wal-mart and picked up a game called Viking battle for Asgard for $20.00

Unreal. This game looks like it slipped past everybody and had no fanfare or many purchases for that matter.

The graphics are every bit as good as the Lord of the Ring: Conquest game and the action story line is better than the much vaunted Fable 2.

BTW, I like both the LOTR game and Fable 2.

But for $20.00 this thing is great. The map on this is huge and much more interactive than Fable 2 map.

This is far more like Elder Scroll: Oblivion Gate (probably the best RPG game out there) it's not quite on that level but honestly is it no that much worse either.

However this is supposed to be about left 4 dead on the xbox 360, so if anyone could let me know. Thanks

Trust me, it sucks you in. The sheer size of the game is stunning. What's even more stunning is that there are literally hundreds of ways to configure your character and play the game accordingly. I'm convinced it's a game that would be nearly impossible to see everything on your way through. A great website to check out if you're ever in a bind is The Vault (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_Wiki) . Tons of info there. I wouldn't do the walkthrough sections unless you're just stuck and need a nudge. But they have tons of great advice on character building. Stuff like which perks to take at which levels depending on what type of character you are wanting to build or how you want to play. The character I have right now is high on sneak, lockpick, and small guns. The perks I have chosen makes him lethal on headshots. You'll have to keep us posted on how well you end up liking it. I only have one friend that got it and is no longer playing it. The rest are still playing it as much as I am. Plus there's already one downloadable episode available with plans for two more, and one of those will raise the level cap from 20 to 30. I can't wait. This $60 was EASILY the best value I've ever gotten in gaming.

Well if they need to play GBA games, then they can use their GBA. Otherwise, it's been a long time since GBA, so the important parts are the DS games and SD slot. I think it's nice that they have downloadable games now. That would really be a good reason to purchase a DSi.

Yeah I would definitely recommend downloading it to your hard drive if you plan on putting in any marathon sessions with FO3. It tends to run a little smoother.

The 360 Texas road trips are no fun, but I think they are getting turned around much quicker now as opposed to a year or two ago.

Ok, I've beaten the main quest in FO3. Of course I chose the path where I died in the end.

I went through the credits at the end of the game and thought I would be able to continue on exploring the big bad world. Wrong.

It will let me go back to the last saved spot when I enter the memorial. I assume it let's me pick a differant path, like making Lyons go into the rad. room.

Did you save your game prior to starting the final mission? If so, just load that save. Once you start wandering the wastes you'll get a signal for a new radio station, which will add a new quest. Then, make that your active quest and go to the location on your map.

Please tell me you saved your game at least once (other than auto-save) prior to starting the last mission.

I thought all the endings were pretty crummy. After playing through a game with as grand a scale as that one, a simple little slide show is a bit of a let down. Gameplay-wise, the whole final mission was something of a let down. No challenge at all.

Thanks to Spicoli I found and played the Operation Anchorage add on tonight.

Litterally I beat the entire thing in slightly over an hour and 15 min.

Unless you have money to burn and time to kill do NOT waste your time with this add on. Between this and the crummy way the game ended my enthusiasm for FO3 has dropped significantly. I still cannot believe that you can not continue playing after the main quest. For God's sake how is anyone supposed to know when the main level is ending unless you go online and read walkthrough which I try not to do. I did save my game prior to going into the memorial so I can play from just outside, but in all honesty it is quite a let down. Still overall it's a great game, but the add on is crap (honest to God it is just a straight up shooter war game) and the fact that there is no warning that if you finish the main quest your character cannot continue. I'm just venting now.

Peck, I didn't comment on this until now because I was so stunned that you just ran straight through to the end of the game. That's certainly one way to play it, but not very satisfying. I can't even begin to tell you how much content you likely missed on the way through. Did you do the quest where you get Lincoln's Repeater, the best small gun in the game? Did you bother to track down schematics so you can make weapons out of the wasteland junk you find on Moira's workbench? Did you track down the T51b power armor, or get the Ranger Battle Armor from Reilly? Did you find Agatha and get the Violin for her? Just a few of hundreds of things you can do. On the bright side, it does have a pretty high replay value. You can do all of these things with a character that can be anywhere from a little different to exactly the opposite if you decide to play through again. Sounds like you soured on it though.

I had no idea how far the main story was going to go. Sometimes in games like this if you do something out of order or not on time other things become affected. I wasn't sure on this one. Besides I've never had a game like this end before. I mean there was an ending but never to the point where you could not continue playing.

As to the side storys, yea I did several before I completed the main quest. I built the shiskabob, got the T51b armor. I did not get the ranger armor nor did I get the violin.

Right now I am going back and doing the survival guide. I am on chapter three at the moment.

Don't get me wrong, it is still a kick @ss game and now that my anger over the ending is starting to ebb I am sure I will get many more hours of use out of this.

Still though, they need to give you some kind of warning that you are ending the story (if they are not going to let you continue).

If you liked RE4 you're going to love it. If you liked the first few RE games though....eh...

Here's a non plot related spoiler for ya...

It's short. I blew through it in about 12 hours even though Capcom promised 20-25 hrs.

Just got Jason and the Argonauts in the mail.

At first when I put the game in I was not all that thrilled with it but the more I played it the better it became. However I will say that this game is not for everybody and probably not for many really.

This game has 10 x more talking than action in it. The animation actually is not on par with other games of its nature.

However it does look like it is huge in nature so maybe it will improve as time goes on. But frankly this is more like watching a movie where you can pick the direction your character goes than a video game. Which I don't mind but I am certain most people would hate.

I was "eh" on RE4. Played through half of it in a day, got bored, and never finished.

I've heard RE5 is pretty short. I have a couple friends that beat it in 10ish hours.

I've never gotten into the Resident Evil series but I'd be pretty pissed if I paid full price for a game, with no multiplayer, that was able to be finished in well less than 20 hours.

I've been thinking the same thing lately. I haven't opened the game yet, so maybe I'll return it and just rent it for a few days instead. Seems like a smarter financial move, and I need to start making more of those.

Excellent set list. Some of the note charts seem to be a little off, but that's pretty much par for the course with Guitar Hero. And I'm surprised by how many songs I can actually beat on Expert drums.

I refuse to support Metallica in any way. Two months ago there was an article about GH:Metallica. In the article Lars explained how he called Activision to request a free copy. So it's fine for him to obtain music for free, just don't do it to him. **** him and the horse he rode in on.

I am getting ready to buy another PSP (#3) so I can have it hacked to run old Nintendo and PS1 games.

There is definitely a learning curve when it comes to using the sticks to hit but once you get it, it's fabulous and creates true to life stats. In fact, my guys are on pace for some great offensive numbers in the season I'm currently in, but NONE of my guys will lead the league in anything. That's not something you can say about most sports games. Usually the players you control lead the league in almost everything because the creators have the defaults set to cater to casual fans rather than hardcore gamers. With the show, it's the opposite. It's almost perfect out of the box and casual gamers will have to mess with the setting a great deal to create the home run derby that they are accustomed to with other baseball games. The only thing I changed was the rate of steals because guys we're NEVER able to steal a base and getting thrown out 98 times out of 100.

I've been playing Dragon Age, and I can't say I've really been enjoying it. I'm playing as a human noble, and after the intro stuff I went to Redcliffe. That was fine, but I went to find the Urn next, and that was horribly tedeous. Felt like I spent 5 hours in that temple. Walk ten feet, fight a bunch of guys, walk ten feet, fight, with no real payoff. Oh look, fight ghost versions of my party, that's never been done before.

Probably the worst thing is I'm a Rogue, I'm almost maxed out on lockpicking, and still half the chests I can't break. Then Lilliana says, "Oh, I can do that" but no, she can't. Gets really old after a couple hundred times. I find out from dialogue that I supposedly found a dead body in a chest, but no, I didn't, because I couldn't open the stupid thing. Frustrating.

I'll keep at it, hope I can get it into it. Right now if feels like a chore.

Yeah, I tore through that game in about 4 days (I have free time on my hands).

I liked it better than the first one, but I have to admit, the controls about drove me insane a few times. My assassin would inexplicably jump off buildings and what not. The Assassin Tombs were a particularly dreadful experience as well. Not my favorite part of the game, but it overall it was really fun. I wish I could have played with the flying machine more.

Either you're exaggerating, or your game is broke. I have been a rogue twice and played through the entire game, and I can probably count on my fingers how many things I ran into that I couldn't unlock.

Anytime you're near an edge you don't want to jump off of, just make sure you're not hitting the right trigger. He will not jump or anything in low profile control. When you pull the right trigger and he runs faster and will begin to do smaller jumps and such, that's high profile control.

How about that ending though? Wow!

See, when I play video games, I almost always have the turbo button down. I just like to move faster, especially in sandbox style games like Assassin's Creed. Probably a big chunk of the reason why my guy is so keen on suicide.

Ending was crazy. I'm excited for the third one.

My favorite memory sequence of the game was easily the one with the carnival going on. I just thought that was so cool. They need more stuff like that, I loved it.

I was about half way through the game before I taught myself to lay off the "high profile" actions at the appropriate times. It isn't easy. Those controls aren't easy at all. If you're not very good at games, I can see how that game could frustrate the hell out of someone.

If you haven't seen them, be sure to search "Assassins Creed Lineage" in YouTube. There are 3 real time movies based off of Assassins Creed 2 storyline made by Ubisoft themselves on YouTube. My biggest draw in AC is the story. After the way the first one ended I had no idea what to think, or do. I just knew I wanted to see where it went next. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending upon how you look at it, AC2 did the exact same thing. Those might be the best TWO endings in video games I've ever played, both in the same series. Well ... first 2 games of the series even more shockingly. Love it, but absolutely hate waiting!
