The Colts are media darlings, while the Pacers are often overlooked? :hmm:

Shade are you talking about the national media or local media

National media

The Colts are very popular. Probably because they have an offense. And the football media is a little more highly educated than the NBA media, especially ESPN wise.

1. That is the first reason. They are the NFL equivalent of the Phoenix Suns. Very fast paced, high scoring flashy offense.

2. They have Peyton Manning as a quarterback. The "All American Do-Gooder". Who also happens to be the best QB in the game today :)

If Peyton actually wins a couple SBs, and continues this pace as far as numbers are concerned, you could seriously consider him as the best QB ever. It's like Marino with titles.

Peyton

He's a recognizable star. He's likeable. He's a hero and record holder playing the most recognizable and popular football position. And even though everybody wears a helmet, people know what he looks like. After the games, he takes his helmet off and the camera follows him around showing what a good sport he is. He is the FACE of a successful, energized, high-powered-offensive football team. He is the WINNER that everyone wants to be.

Pacers have no one like him. In fact they have what some media and fans would consider the anti-Christ. While negativity gets its place in media coverage, it's the Jack Armstrongs that get the continued every game notice. The Pacers will get their due when the season comes and they win a lot of games, but expect it with a dose of "what's Ron doing tonight?" at least for a while.

The media loves Peyton Manning. I mean you got great players in Marvin and Edge and while their stats are up there with anyone else in the leauge you NEVER hear about them on sportscenter.
