As the title says, Channel 13 had a segment tonight on the Pacers' training camp, Ron, Danny, and some in our camp. I saw it coming, so I recorded it and am encoding a 512kbps .mov file right now. I'll have it up in the next half hour. I caught the first minute or so before leaving the room, and nothing seems to be terribly new, but it's nice to have anything fresh on the team this time of year.

Thanks. I turned it there and caught the last minute or two. They were talking about some european player trying to make it to the NBA. (Didn't see the name) Then, they talked about the summer league, and how Ron will talk to the Indianapolis media tommorow.

Thanks Hicks.

So is Danny going with #23 then? He looks a bit like TMac, I think.

David was in there for a few seconds. :sunshine: Did anyone think it looked like he had lost any weight? I really couldn't tell.

Ronnie is going to address the media, should be interesting.

Didn't Ron show up for this training camp last year? That really is great.

Thanks Hicks!

Good to see some local Pacer talk...

Chris Thomas could be a better point guard than Eddie Gill immediately and could eventually replace AJ

Wonder what Ron Artest has to say

"Chris Thomas
Birthdate: 10/3/82
NBA Position: Point Guard
College: Notre Dame
Class: Junior
Ht: 6-0
Wt: 175
Hometown: Indianapolis, IN
High School: Pike
Team Site Profile
2003 Stats

NBA Comparison: Tony Parker

Strengths: A true point guard, with the ability to run a team. A "floor general" with sound fundamentals, capable of crowd pleasing crossover dribbles and dazzling passing ability. Has a good stroke, and is adept at shooting off the dribble. Cerebral playmaker with great fundamentals. Excellent ball handler with supreme quickness. Has good leaping ability. Very strong on the ball defender, anticipates well.

Weaknesses: Average size at the PG position. Needs to get stronger, doesn't have great strength but can develop this area. Above average athlete, but not a freak.

Took the point guard reins immediately upon arriving at Notre Dame. In his first ever college game, Thomas recorded the first triple-double in school history with 24 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Was a McDonald's All American out of Indiana's Pike High School."

Just for the sake of conversation, but has the NBA officially reinstated Ronny? I haven't heard anything along those lines. I would think that he would have to be reinstated before playing in the summer games.

Artest did participate in several summer league practices lasty year, but not in any games.

The suspension was for the SEASON. He doesn't have to be reinstated because the suspension was not open-ended. If he had come back before the season ended, that would have required reinstatement.

Ron doesn't need any approval from anybody, as far as I know, as long as he lives up to whatever restrictions that he agreed he would follow, such as (I'm guessing) taking anger management therapy, keeping quiet, and staying out of trouble.

No, Ron needs reinstatement, but stern has said it's pretty much a formality.

While I'm glad Ron's going back to 15, can't say I'm happy having a 23 on the team again. :shakehead

Did anybody else see Tremaine Folkes walk by the camera? I'd swear it was him.

Yes, David looked thin. And I'm happy to report that Ron didn't put on another 20-30 lbs after last year's fiasco. :sarcasm:

I'm on record as saying that Chris Thomas is a future NBDL success story. I'd love it if we sent him down to the minors with Edwards.

Actually, Stern said it was a done deal. He said barring any unforseen new problems, you will see Ron in a jersey on opening day.

Who cares if Ron wears 15, 23, 91, 32425, 2351, or 312415153215.

The bottom line is how will Ron Artest control himself this year. Switching back to 15 doesn't make me feel better. I won't feel better until he goes the entire season without making a complete jackass of himself.

Understandable. But that doesn't mean we can't be happy about positive signs. :)
