Found this blurp today.

Ainge traded Walker to Dallas two years ago but reacquired him from Atlanta last season, and he led the Celtics to the Atlantic Division title.

"We've got to see what happens with Danny," Bartelstein said. "He wants to play the young guys, and they're not going to play if he signs Antoine ... Danny has a decision to make. A number of teams are interested in Antoine - the Knicks, Houston, Seattle, Sacramento, Indiana, the Clippers. He's the most talented free agent on the market.

Not saying it will happen but we know Larry Bird and Donnie Walsh , are big supporters of Walker.

Intriguing. Would he play 3? 4? 1? Can he even play 5?

I don't think we need any help at 3, but we could use a good backup 4 and we could also use a playmaker like Antoine out front.

I can't imagine it happening, but it is intriguing. I've always liked Walker, even though he's goofy, inconsistent, and unpredicatable. He does know how to win, though. IMO.

Traditionally I feel that Walker isn't a winner-he doesn't give a team the things it takes to win. But maybe as he is getting older he is ready to do that.

Having said that I don't know where they would play him. We need a big man who can play center. Not another skill player.

Dont bring this guy on our team please. Watching him in the playoffs makes me want no part of the guy, how someone can miss so many wide open layups is beyond me. He shoots too much and I dont want that.

I don't want this guy on our team unless he is willing to play 10-14 min as our back-up PF and doesn't command a huge salary. Otherwise I don't want him, he is talented but wouldn't help our team.

If I remember correctly, Walker was involved in a sign and trade with Subway. In return, the Celtics get Jared and a sandwich to be named later on.

But seriously, I hope he never comes to the Pacers. I don't really like his style of play, and I don't see him meshing with our current roster.

sign him and have him open and "shut down" Conseco on all gamenights and for the season.

SHUT YOUR MOUTHS!

SHUT UP!

SHUT

UP!

SHUT YOUR POOP MOUTHS NOW!

Walker would play 4, JO would play 5, and believe it or not, we'd have a really good team. Can't believe so many people would whine so much. He's a good player who has changed his style of play to escape the label casted upon him. He doesn't chuck 3's anymore, and when he's not the top offensive scorer, he could be a valueable asset. He can be a good scorer, decent rebounder, and can handle the ball.

SHUT YOUR POOP MOUTHS!!!

Our inside defense would be terrible, up there with the Kings if we went to that lineup.

This happens a lot and never ceases to amaze me!

What am I talking about?

DD reports the experts (Bird and Walsh) like Walker, and it's true I've read or heard that several times myself, but does that dissuade people from weighing in with a dissenting opinion and really trashing Walker? Not at all.

Must be an Internet thing because if I had a basketball opinion different from those guys I wouldn't be advertising it, I would look into why they have those opinions.

Walker tried extremely hard to fit in when Boston picked him up, and he gets most of the accolades when reading why Boston made the playoffs.

He would be an asset to the Pacers!

Im with Soupisgood on this one.
Sorry but i dont like his style or him.. but more importantly i dont think he can give anything to the pacers unless he is backup playing like max 14 mpg..(and i dont think he is willing to do that so we can forget about Fatwoine!)

Walker is a muscle man on offense and i think thats why Bird would like him
on the roster. As of right now who scores at the PF? JO when he plays it and then
who? That would be the only reason why they would like him. Plus i am not
so sure how the locker room chemistry would be. Didn't he try to get crazy with our
players last year.

Nice to see someone has the same opinion.

It's pretty lame that everyone repeats what they see from other posters. It's like a broken record. If the majority of the people here had their way, the Pacers would be the EXACT same team. The EXACT same team won't get us a title. Change is necessary, and a player with Walker's talents would be very valueable to us. He's alot better than people give credit. The guy is an All-Star several times over and just because he hasn't had the chance to be coached by an awesome coach like Rick Carlisle or play on an awesome team like the Pacers is not his fault. Atleast give the man a chance before you put a hex on him.

IIRC, Toine pretty much reverted back to his old self deep in the first round of the playoffs. I remember a lot of bad shots going up by him in Game 6/7.

I just found out what IIRC was not 1 minute before I read your post. Ironic, yes.

I'm not saying Antoine is the best player in the world and doesn't make mistakes. But he can score and that's what the Pacers need.

Here is a good example of what the Pacers need. The Spurs are a defensive oriented team right? Wrong. They have players like Brown and Barry that are purely there for their offensive abilities, but defensively, are very lacking. I'm not saying that Walker can be a total slacker, but he doesn't need to be a defensive specialist. If he can play atleast a little d, and be there when the Pacers hit their slumps on offense, I don't see why he wouldn't fit in.

And I believe in Rick and I believe that he could coach a player like Walker into being a winner.

If it's a scorer we desperately need, I'll just go with signing Saras then. Saras and Jack in the backcourt should suffice, with JO and Ron to score in the front.

Walker might not be a bad addition depending on the price.

If he is signed for an average of 6-7 million a year he isn't that bad. The guy is one of the best all around players in the league.

Take a look at his stats:

http://www.nba.com/playerfile/antoine_walker/index.html

For his career he has averaged 8 rebounds a game while scoring 19 points.

While some might be concerned about how our defense will be with Walker and JO my question is how will the other team guard us with Artest, Walker, and JO?

With that said, I do have 2 cocerns with Walker and there are....

1. His turnovers.
He averages 3.15 TOs for his careers. Although I will cut him a little bit of slack because I know he does have to carry alot of the ball handling duties everywhere he has been. In Boston for the most part, in Dallas when they tried him as a point forward, and in Atlanta.
2. His shooting percentages.
Antoine is a 41% career shooting from the field while hitting 32% from the 3 point line. He is just a 64% foul shooter. Although this is not a huge concern for me. Ron shoots about the same from the field and 3 point line thorughout his career as well.

Walker CAN ONLY BE effective if he is on a team that doesn't care about defense ( like the Kings or Mavs ) or has enough players where they don't care about his lack of defense ( like the Spurs or Pistons ) and he can be the 1st or 2nd scoring option on the team. That way he can do what he does best...shoot the ball.

That said.....if Walker is placed on a team where he will either be a 2 to 4th scoring option....Walker will become another version of Croshere.....a PF who hovers beyond the arc waiting for a 3 pt shot. If he provided some other talents...like play some defense or pull down boards...then he would be fine.

The only way that I would have him on the team is if he is the backup PF and playing ONLY backup PF minutes....which would probably be about 15-20 mpg. I don't want him playing any SF minutes at all....we have enough SF as it stands.

I want a PF who can bang inside and score close to the basket....not a PF who occassionally pulls down rebounds and loves the 3pt shot.

I will Pass on Walker.

Walker is a huge talent. I always wonder what could have been with this guy. He reminds me of Derrick Coleman.I always wondered what could have been if both of those guys had a stronger work ethic. Offensively he has all the skills , hes a good passer( when he does decide to pass the ball) excellent ball handling skills, good rebounder, 3point range on his jumper and can score in the post and just on skill alone hes become a consistant 19-20pt 10bd and 4 assists a night guy. The guy can certainly put up numbers in volume but when the going gets tough Walker will dissapear.

Its a shame the guy has pathetic work ethic, hes never in shape, doesn't have any desire to defend and doesn't seem to play with a high IQ.Theres times with that big frame of his he should be down in the low post not trying to take quicker guys off the dribble or jacking up threes. I said before the trade deadline when there was talk of aquiring him from atlanta that if is one of your stars that you have to rely on to win a championship its never going to happen. I don't want him on this team.

Pacers front line is:
JO, Foster, Sjax, Tinsley, and Ron..
I would say we have players who could score.
