Maybe its the teacher in me, but the responses (as of 11:17 central time on Tuesday) to this question in the survey about ourselves jumped out at me. Of the people that had a response, 6 answered with the distance in miles while 7 answered with how long it took to get there. I just find it interesting in how people chose to answer.

I made a new thread because i didn't want to clutter up the other one with this.

That is interesting.

When I was working I didn't know how far it was, all I knew was the time it usually took to get to work.

60 miles round trip - about 35-40 minutes one way

Who cares how many miles it is. What matters is how long it takes.

Had I answered the question I would have answered in miles. If I still lived in New Jersey I probably would have answered in how long it took me to get to work.

The first time I was there I lived in Somerset and worked in Flemington. The second time I lived in Chatham and worked in Mountainside. Talk about a ****ty drive to work. I was thoroughly convinced that one day my car would roll end over end down the Mountain.

You guys would ****** yourselves if you had to make my commute. Try 60 miles each way 1.5 hours to work, 2 hours from work. Oh don't ya just love Californians? :(

I agree. I take a longer route to work than I need to, but it takes less time and is safer.

But as a teacher I assume you'd still have to fail anyone who answered a distance question with time........

Something like 11.3 miles. Time depends heavily on traffic in the morning (duh).

But only with purple ink since red hurts their poor little feelings.

18 miles if I take the 'shorter but more traffic' route (45 min - 1 hr) or 25 miles if i take the '$3 toll bridge, longer but less traffic' route (35-45 min).

My internship is about 60 miles - a 75-80 minute drive, three days a week.
