I'm starting the game thread hours early because I'm probably not gonna be at my PC at game time - but so far that's resulted in wins so here's hoping the streak continues!!!

I'm gonna stay away from my PC too. I have a strong urge to go but the prices through the brokers are too much - just don't feel like paying it so I'll stick with TV for this one.

Besides, it's a non-Prime# Game. Plus I want to be able to go to a game in the next ser .... uh, to a game some other time - maybe the Fever.

(Phew - that was close!)

You know how I feel.

The Pistons are a better team than the Pacers. But not by much. The Pistons don't realize the dire circumstances they're under, and won't come out with the sense of urgency that is necessary to beat the Pacers.

Pistons have a better chance of coming back and winning this series from a 3-1 deficit than they do of winning this game.

Pacers win.

I gotta take a shower and get ready to make the trip to Indy. I'm in sec. 220 row. 7 seat 7. Say hey if ya see me. Be loud! Be Proud! and NO Detroit Sucks chant until after we win the game. I do think a BEAT DETROIT chant at tipoff would be cool.

Personally, I think an "I DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT" chant the first time Larry Brown talks to a ref would be nice - but pretty close to impossible.

Pacers 5 point dogs at home...

Pretty big line, most of the betting world is feeling a Pacers letdown.

We need tons of energy today, hopefully the crowd drinks some coffee and stays in it after the Pistons make an early run. Gotta believe they'll come out strong.

lets go Pace

I think the key to this game is gonna be to keep Tinsley out of foul trouble and when he gets in foul trouble they're gonna need the 3 main scorers (JO, SJ, Reggie) each to have very efficient games, shooting over 40% at least.. and everyone else hittin timely jumpers.

I have a feeling JO is going to have a bad game. He might try and do too much, with Bird saying "you owe me one", and with his talk towards Ben, he might just get owned on the offensive end. Not to mention, Sheed is likely pumped to hurt him on the defensive end as well.

I don't have a great feeling about this one today. And of course, it being a Sunday afternoon game makes things worse......

I wonder if we are going to see more of Arroyo? Brown is likely to throw something out there to mix things up, and Arroyo could do that...he's arguably their best passer and hasn't played much thus far.

The Pistons are at another level than the Pacers right now. Indiana is beginning to get that deer-in-the-headlights look about them.

The Pacers must rise to the occasion, or they're toast. There's no reason to play scared.

The 90's teams had so many great shooters: Miller, Mullin, Smits, even Rose. Pacers really miss a Big Man who can shoot....nevermind...I won't say who that is...

You don't have to be happy to be supportive. That's why I used the work pessimistic.

Optimism works. If the Pacers had remained down on themselves in game 2, they would have lost for sure. But instead, they fought back with positive emotions, and won the game, allowing them to even the series up on Detroit's home court.

Games like this are so hard for me to watch. I want so badly for us to get something going, but we just have not been able to. I give Detroit credit for playin awesome defense and an intelligent offense. We settled for too many jumpers early in the game, and man, we just could not hit any of them. Wide open looks to. It drives me crazy! :)

We started driving inside, which is what we should be doing, and unlike the last few games, we just can't seem to finish. Jermaine is missing shots that he should and can make, they just keep rolling off.

Hopefully Detroit will get lax because of this lead, and hopefully our shots start to fall. If we can keep this lead closer to ten at the half, then I will be optimistic. 15 isn't insurmountable, but with our poor shooting, it will be very tough.

Now that is more like it! :)

Fred needs to go to the hole more. His shot has been sporadic since he broke that bone in his hand. With his speed, and his hops, he could be almost as difficult to guard as Tinsley for the Pistons.

up by 13 at halftime.

Its not 17, but I'll take it. We played lindseya full 4 minutes and only got outscored by 4. Thats a win in my book.

More importantly, Arroyo is in no foul trouble, so he can play the 2nd half all he wants.

That's fine. If I'm you guys I'd be perfectly happy with this. I thought all along the Pistons would come out with a lot of force and you had to weather it and respond. I expected you to be down 10-12 at half (13's close enough).

The first 4 minutes of the 2nd half are key - you can play them even or cut the lead - you can't give them an 8-2 run or something like that. If it's still about a 10-pt game with 8 minutes gone you'll be fine.

Though obviously you need to quit throwing up all those 3's. A few were OK but several were early in the clock and several others were to avoid a violation.

Keep the faith.

I think we are all in agreement here. We need to drive into the paint more. We have a higher probability of either scoring, or getting to the free throw line. Based on the depth of our bench, I think that would favor us.

Another thing that I would like to see us do on defense more is to try and draw some charges. I am not looking for Davis and Foster to flop, but when Prince and Billups are backing down Tinsley, Miller, Jones, etc., then I think we need to do this. They are bumping and banging underneath. Why not use it to our advantage?

We have been too weak mentally this game, although we have an extremely small chance of still turning this around.

We also need to make our damn shots. NBA players get paid to hit shots, and they get paid alot to do it. Nobody is going to make every single one, but we have missed far too many wide open looks. It is amazing how contagious our poor shooting is too. Credit Detroit for keeping us out of rhythm, but every single one of our players doesn't need to be ice cold at the same time. :(

The Pacers won 61 games last year by stamping their will, their signature, upon the opponent. The Pistons did, and do, the same thing. Unfortunately, the Pistons are a lot smarter than the Pacers. I give the Pistons credit for causing the Pacers to play like a group of high schoolers. Indiana has played two of their dumbest games I've ever seen them play in this series--Game 1 and today. I'm in awe of the Pacers' stupidity. Congrats Detroit.

honest question: why is it ok to complain about calls after a loss, but when the other team wins, they have no right to complain? Honest question.

I think it is OK to complain when you win. I can remember when we played the Lakers in the finals when we won some games that we clearly got hosed by the officials.

I think you are a class act by not complaining about the officials, but I think it is OK to complain as long as it is legitimate. Extreme homerism is annoying, and I hate people that always think they are being hosed by the officials.

There have been bad calls on Detroit this game. Jermaine has been very fortunate for not being called for hacking inside more this game.

My big problem with the officiating this series has been consistency. Call it tight, or call it loose, and then the players can adjust. These guys just haven't done it, for either team, in this series. It makes it impossible for teams to adjust and it drives the fans of both teams crazy.

If we lose this game, it won't be because of the officiating, but it has been poor in my opinion.

You make a good point, but you shouldn't be surprised. People react like this all of the time. It is always different when the shoe is on the other foot. Alot of people are hypocritical...what are you gonna do? :)

For the record, I think that Rick has taken the high road with officiating this year. If politics start affecting the game, which sometimes it does, then I won't have a problem with him venting to the press.

It is like negative ads in politics. Most people say that they don't like them, and most politicians say they don't like them. At the end of the day though, politicians use them, and people respond to them for one simple reason...they work.

I haven't seen anything so far that should affect Rick's "high road" position though. They have alot of other issues within their control that they need to focus on.

I'm more referring to the fact that larry brown and doc rivers are labeled "crybabies" for complaining about calls.

Actually, I agree with that sentiment.

The difference? We are fans. Really, any NBA coach could complain after every game. To me, it seems like one team usually gets hosed, no rhyme or reason which team. I just think it is bs when a coach comes out and complains to the media. Their only intention is to draw attention, so they get calls their way the next game...which is what Larry Brown got. Nice job on his part. Maybe Carlisle will do the same thing, knowing our luck, we will have Van Gundy Gate again...only x1000

Here is what bothers me Kstat - your team is handed the East thanks to Stern's Artest suspension and THEN you come on here and pound your chest - please go back to the Pistons board and stay there. Come back when you are plying a full strength Pacers squad.

Sorry, I'm here to stay and you'll just have to deal with it.

If I offend you so much, there's an ignore list for you. Otherwise, you're just going to have to put up with me.

I dont recall you complaining when I was here during the losses.....

I'm surprised it's taken 10 pages to say this. I wouldn't want a Pacer fan in the Piston message board, posting 2-2 in guarantee games either.

anyone missing Artest about now?

Anyone missing Foster about now?

We've had several stops but can't get the rebound. Not many offensive rebounds on our end. Those are game changers.
