I have the impression the agency is using Artest to make itself look good by lining him up for national interviews. That's a naive error, however, and doesn't serve him well in the long run.

My most recent calls to the agency have not been returned, so I can't tell you what the grand plan is at the moment.
Yeah, it's all about YOU, Mark.

Keeping Artest from saying more stupid crap like he did after the brawl (i.e. protecting Artest from himself) is this firm's job #1 until he returns to the court. If they let him talk to local beat writers, they would be worthless.

"BOO-HOO. Local media can't talk to him."

Cry me a river, pal.

Oh yeah - I just thought of this - is there any connection between this PR firm in Tennessee and Peyton Manning? I heard he hired people to prepare him for public appearances and speeches when he was in Knoxville. Any connection?

That was a nice group of useless questions.

Well, we have our answer on why Mark hasn't been writing. Sad that his mother died.

Actually, I see Mark's point about the media. The local writers (Kravitz notwithstanding) would be much more likely to put a positive spin on any Ron-interview-related articles. If Ron is getting help they'd be able to cover that as well. The national media, on the other hand, is likely to be much less sympathetic and more likely to play the "nutcase" card in order to get ratings.

Plus, as Mark said, Ron's going to have to deal with the local media sooner or later. It'd be good to maintain good relations, even if it was just for an occasional fluff piece or two.

I was pretty sure Detlef played for Portland later in his career.....
