Well, I was waiting for this thread to get started to post this.

I really think the Pacers will win tonight. In fact, I'll be really surprised if the Pistons do end up pulling out the victory. And I'm not trying to jinx anyone.

I'm not predicting a Pacers victory in the series necessarily, just in tonight's game.

We'll see what happens.

Burts keys to the series, get the ball to Stephen Jackson when he is wide open and let him "bomb" threes like mad.

The Tinsley top of the key/FTline pick and roll or screen play to JO will work great all series long.

The Reggie to JO post feed aint gonna work very well. So reggie will need to run screens and do some ISOs.

We're gonna have to hit alot of jumpers and capitalize on fast breaks off TO's to win. I just don't think JO does very well vs Sheed in the post, Sheed knows his game too well. If Sheeds out, feed JO in the post.

Dale and Jeff are gonna have to play huge, we need them to match at least BenWallaces #s

Pacers can win this series. They probably have the best shot of beating them out of anyone in the NBA. Lets do it boys!

Mr.ThunderMakeR
05-09-2005, 08:30 PM
What is the deal with refs not calling goaltending anymore? Twice almost back to back in the first quarter the pistons should have been called for goaltending. Of course there was the 'block' on AJ's layup, where the ball was clearly on its way down when looking at the replay. Then there was Ben Wallace's putback, the ball was sitting on the rim. I hardly ever see refs call goaltending on putbacks like this anymore, I noticed it in the Boston series too.

in all fairness, neither JO NOR RIP should have gotten a shot off. I know, I was counting.

Pacers should be down 13 at the half, not 14. Neither shot should have counted.

The reason they gave Rip his free throws, is because if they didn't, the Pistons would be the ones getting screwed. They'd be alloing one invalivd basket and dissallowing another one.

As for the scoreboard guy, he's not employed by either team, so don't blame us....

Well, we got two we shouldn't have got, and they got three they shouldn't, so we're only down one net point. Although I'm sure JO knew the clock wasn't running so he took his time. I tend to believe it's a malfunction or an accident, because it may happen once, but they wouldn't be dumb enough to do it twice on purpose.

The difference is JO was holding for the final shot. He would have had his shot off by whatever time the clock elapsed.

Yeah, but he sure was able to take his sweet time to get a good shot.

He was looking right at the shot clock. Watch the replay. He was able to get a better shot off, while Ben was looking the other way, and counting seconds in his head. Jermaine had a DISTINCT advantage.

I wish we could go back and replay the last 23 seconds. Both teams we done a diservice.

3 extra points and an extra foul on Jermaine......

BIG difference....the clock would've ran out after Detroit's rebound of JO's missed shot, end of half, us down 11 with JO only having 2 fouls....

I really do think the officiating was good till the last minute. The Pacers had tired legs and playing defense with their elbows. They clearly were committing more fouls.

I think it's bollocks on both counts... if JO knew the shot clock had stopped then surely he woulden't care about the last shot as you'd imagine it get called back anyway....

I for one feel if JO/ any other player knew the clock had stopped it's there duty to notify a offical, and why none of the 3 officals was paying attention is a major shame

If i was JO and taking the shot and noticed the shot clock had stopped then in this league you might as well take a two handed WNBA shot you'd imagine the clock would get reset...

this can only help the Pacers surely.. if the officals diden't know about there mistake when it happend, they sure do now and will give the P's some breaks to make up for it... might be something to keep an eye out on..

Plus any team that lets Ben "I'm Dumber then a Carrot" Wallace get 14 pts in a half deserves to be down at half time.. thats disgracefull

Bottom line, never shoulda been a last shot for Rip. He wasn't in the act of shooting anyway. AJ fouled him and stripped it and he flung his arms up.....

Also, how was going one on one at Ben Wallace, clock stopped or not, EASY??!! If they were in practice, wtih no clock whatsoever, it's still one on one.....The clock didn't give JO ANY advantage....

And yes, I DID go back and look at it, a bunch of times.....If anything, I'm MORE mad after analyzing it.....

9:18 to go, Detroit up by 18 now. We need like a 13-2 run in the next 3 minutes to have a chance. A stop and a couple of threes would get it done. It's just about over unless we go on a run.

Kstat tells us that there is a cartilage issue with his nose and so the mask is needed from here on out.

Carlisle did the Birdesque mechanical substitutions, which I think hurt us in the 4th. We needed to start strong and leaving Reggie/Tinsley on the bench per usual was a mistake, IMO

A question for our Pistons members: Is Hamilton ever planning to stop wearing the face protector? I mean, I know athletes are superstititious, but c'mon, it's been more than a year since he's really needed it, right? :hmm:

I think it's because he has injured his nose so many times, that he doesn't want to risk something happening again. The superstition might have some factor in it too.

Are we in any danger of hitting anything!! Reggie 2-6 in 25 mins, is he just getting defended well or are they just not looking for him? We couldn't do any worse if he started looking for his shot, clearly he isn't taking enough!

If he breaks it again its going to require major surgery, not sure how long he has to keep it on though.

Nice job Tins. Let's get in this thing.

It is impossible for us to make a run. Everytime a run has been made, we get 20 foul calls in a row. This is ridiculous. I hope Carlisle questions the officiating afterwards and dares Stern to fine him.

That's why Croshere is useless against the Pistons. Sheed saw he had Cro on him and thought it was Christmas.

You guys forget about getting blown out in Boston? This has happened often this postseason.........We'll be back next game. Mark my words. This team is too classy to fold a series.

Starting to get away from us now. I'm about to believe we might not win this one, although we're still in it.

I'll say this, though. There's nothing that makes me think we can't win this series. I don't fear this team.

I will never understand how a defensive player can be called for a foul when an offensive player initiates the contact after the defensive player has established his position. It's just plain wrong, but it's called a defensive foul every damn time.

Tinsley doing everything he can, but too little too late. Let's just work on some things for later on in the series.

Why are the starters even in there? Just give it up and rest up for the next game. It would send those guys a message too. As it is, we're just taking chances for no good reason
