Looks like Kareem's gonna be at the game scouting the Pacers for the Knicks...

Role still not clearly defined
Associated Press

NEW YORK -- Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has been hired by the New York Knicks, who put him to work Wednesday night scouting the Pacers-Clippers game.

"He's been doing some stuff in an unofficial-official capacity, but tonight it's official," Knicks president Isiah Thomas said.

Thomas said all the details of Abdul-Jabbar's employment status have not yet been worked out. Thomas had the NBA's career scoring leader visit the Knicks at practice last month to work with the team's big men.

"I had a conversation with Isiah (during the All-Star weekend) and he knew I was interested," Abdul-Jabbar said. "For the most part, we've always had a good relationship. Even when we were playing, he was always very appreciative of what I had done in the game."

Abdul-Jabbar has been trying to find a job with an NBA team since working briefly as an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Clippers at the end of the 1999-00 season.

"The most important thing is for me to find the right niche with the organization, so we're going about that process now," Abdul-Jabbar said. "But I just want to do a good job at this. I'm trying to learn different aspects of management, and that's what it's all about. This is a great opportunity for me."

Pacer defense just falls apart and they get a wide open layup. Pacers down 2 with just the shotclock left, we are gonna lose =\You got a lot of faith, huh?

Not in these situations, no. We are horrible in end of quarter situations.I wouldn't say that. we have several players capable of hitting a last shot. Our record says otherwise.

Nice to see that several others stayed up late for the game.

I was a little worried there but once again Reggie, Jermaine, Tins and Ron hit clutch buckets down the stretch. And Jeff with some very big plays showing why he needs to be in there at the ends of the game.

Looking at the boxscore I like the balanced scoring we had:

Artest 15
O'Neal 15
Tinsley 12
Jones 12

I don't know about you guys but I liked seeing Kenny getting some playing time tonight. He was pretty aggressive in driving to the basket in the minutes he did play. Two times when he saw seams in the defense he took it to the basket, the shots just didn't fall. At least he was looking for a shot.

Yeah Foster was great tonight. Only when he was in was Brand quiet. Looked like Al seemed to be pouting on the bench in OT a bit from what I saw on the clipper broadcast .

You're a strange little dude.

Road wins are tough to come by and the Ps almost always falter when they travel to LA, whether they play the Clips or the Lakers. Great win regardless of how sloppy we may have looked at times. We just keep grinding them out. 21-10 road record. Damn.

Whether or not Al likes it Jeff needs to be in the game when it is on the line. He plays the passing lane and gets big rebounds.

I did enjoy seeing Kenny in there. It was getting to the point that I was having to leave the room when AJ was in so it was nice to see more of the game tonight. (I am kidding about leaving the room but he makes me want to)

Al needs to pout on the bench A WHOLE LOT MORE as far as I'm concerned. He is a major liability on offense -- sometimes hot, often aweful -- and he can't move his butt on defense. How many times did Brand or Jaric or anybody else just blow by him tonight?

Ragnar

Back to the game. You have to give the Clippers some credit. They played the Pistons, Kings and Pacers well. They didnt win any of the games but they are a young team. I am just impressed how they played all three of those teams.

Right. I picked the Tugboats (they're not exactly "clipper's" yet!) to be the next playoff team. I think the Cav's will self-destruct around LBJ's inflating ego and inflated salary. :o

Are you being facetious? I haven't actually seen the contraption he's got on his hand, but his shot appears fine. 8-17, 4-5 from 3 point range. Surely if he can shoot 3s better than he has all season he can still pass...
