View Full Version : One thing really bothered at the game tonight.

Pacers were up 14 points with just less than 4 minutes to go in the fourth quarter. During the timeout, the "Fat Lady" sang. It was Boomer doing his fat lady rendition. Obviously the message was this game is over, look the fat lady is singing.

I was furious for several reasons. First the game was not over, I've watched three games this season where a team has blown a 10 point lead with less than 1 minute to go, and if that game happen three times in ta season than scertainly a 14 point lead with 4 minutes left can vanish.

It was disrespectful to the opponent. I was furious and I am sure the Warriors were even more so too.

If I were Rick Carlisle I would have walked over to the scorers table and yelled at someone to stop that right now. Not sure Rick even noticed it. Kevin O'Neill noticed it and I don't think he was amused at all.

There was a small part of me that wished the Warriors would have come back to win this game just because of the no class stunt the Pacers organization pulled tonight.

Someone should be fired if you asked me. Whoever made the decision to pull this stunt should be fired right away.

I was pissed.

Yeah, at the 4 minute mark he should just be standing behind their bench in his grim reaper outfit.........:-p

I don't know if I would go as far as kind of hoping the Warriors would have came back. But, still they shouldn't have done that, and no I don't agree with it.

I dont see the big deal with it.

Yes they were coming back, but the game was all but over and Im assuming it was all done in fun and games.

I think you are overreacting on this one.

Ah, you just made my point. "the game was all but over" so it was not over yet.

Like I said I see what you are saying, but respetfully I think you are over reacting.

Well I'm not storming the Fieldhouse or cancelling my tickets. .

Never said you were.

You stated your opinion, I stated mine;)

Well that's your opinion.

Wow buck way to state the obvious.

Anyway I think you are just looking for an excuse to complain. 14 points, Pacers defense, GS, all factor in as that would have been one freakin amazing comeback.

Buck. You're losing it.

Not that big of a deal. They won. Be happy. Stop coaching the team and enjoy the win as a fan.

and thats yours........

I could go in circles all night and all day.....................

Hope you know I'm just joking around with you.

Starting to regret ever starting this thread. Hope my thread starting post did not come across like I was so mad I could hardly drive home, I'm not that upset, it bothered me some, but I'm fine and I did enjoy the game.

Maybe my comment about firing someone was a little over the top.

I think you're overreacting, UB. I could see this level of anger if they HAD come back, but they didn't. I'll agree it was assuming a bit much for them to pull that stunt when they did, as GS was creeping back into it, but it wasn't awful. Firing someone for this? I don't think so.

Buck, this thread has made me lost all respect for you. I hate you.

Maybe they should let the "Fat Lady" sign the National Anthem at the next home game. :-p

There are way too many threads like this taking up important space on here.:shakehead

Actually, after watching T-Mac against the Spurs, you aren't too off base with this.

Well, I have no problem with UB writing a thread like this. Frankly, he can write whatever he wants. It's other select 3-4 people who need to stop.

And honestly, it probably was bad that they played that, but whatever. No harm done, and we aren't playing them again this year.

Yes we are not playing them again this year but I agree with U.B. we should have more class. We want our team to be the class of the NBA but there are areas where we lag behind. Just recently we saw Portland show us how to treat a retiring star something we should have done for Patrick Ewing (and I hated him) and now we go and do this. It is not the end of the world but still with 4 minutes to go and facing the team who worked out the deal to help get Dale back in a Pacer uniform is wrong.

Mullin could have not traded him to a team who would cut him. He could have traded him to a conference Rival for nothing but he did not.

They wanted Baron Davis. The Hornets were the only team Dale was probably going to go.

Buck, just so you know, I was pissed to. It actually made my list, reason #97 why I'm not getting season tickets next year. :-p

Well, I've been gone the past several days. I was able to check in on the brd Wednesday night via some overpriced Hotel webTV type thing that had a busted keyboard that barely worked sometime... And I didn't even bother re-upping for any more hours.

I had to miss the Pacer action and talk so therefore I didn't see this Fat Lady singing episode. BUT... going by what UB has said... I don't like it either. At 4 mins, a 14 point lead in the NBA is not safe at all.

Not only is what UB describing tasteless but it could give the other team the motivation to actually fuel a comeback. The last thing you want to do is give a team some emotion. I realize a highly paid athlete shouldn't need any outside motivation to win, in a perfect world... but this is not a perfect world and the players are human.

So based on what UB described I 100% agree and think his rant was well warranted.

I was actually poking fun at the complaining going on in the other post that I could not comment in because it was locked.

I thought the big gap between the comment and my agreeing with Buck would have conveyed that.

And in my opinion it was a stupid thing to do. The last thing we needed to do was tick off the other team. They were not amused and neither was I. You have to be up by at least 20 in the last 2 minutes to do something like that.
