Super Bowl here in 2 years.
Can you imagine what people will be saying about the weather if it dumped a bunch of snow around game week? It's stupid to hold the game in a cold climate. Last edited by Stryder; 02-05-2010 at 06:08 PM. |

It's 2012 isn't it?
Hell, people may have bigger things to worry about, like football even being played that year.

And it rained in Miami a couple of years ago. What I find more disturbing than the SB being played in a cold climate (in an enclosed building) is that it's been in Miami 40 times. For a rotating event they sure park it in Miami a lot.
OK...I know it hasn't really been in Miami 40 times but no city should get the SB within a couple of years (barring some calamity that forces the NFL's hand last minute). So if Miami can have 3/4 of all SB's I don't have a problem with Indy getting 1 every 2 centuries. Note: Extensive use of hyperbole in the post was use to make a point. No hyperboles were harmed in the making of this post.

Well said, Bball.
Indy has earned the Super Bowl given it's track record with hosting major sporting events. So what if people don't like cold weather. They can stomach it for a week. If someone is fortunate enough to be covering the Super Bowl, they have a lot of nerve if they whine about the cold weather. If they don't' like it, they're welcome to spend the rest of the year in Miami. |

I love Indy and it will always be my city. I'm glad we got the SB because we have proved in the past that we can host one hell of a sporting event.
But where would I rather be the first week of February? Definitely Miami.

Not only the Superbowl, but all of football should be limited to cold weather cities that have open stadiums only. That's real football, get rid of the teams in Texas, Cali, Florida, etc. Save the fairweather cities for baseball

I actually read an article somewhere that stated the new football stadium in New York is a likely site for Super Bowl XVIII or XVIX. That's New York in February in an open-air stadium. We'll see if that actually happens.
